Here she is … in all her undented glory!

sexy-beast.jpg

Unfortunately my eensy IKEA table doesn’t do her justice. But it makes it easy to keep the old desktop PC at hand and also to use a normal keyboard and mouse when I’m working. And of course, I can use her anywhere in the house at other times. I’m really glad the coin-flip turned out the way it did. Sure it was a bit of a hassle to wipe out all the programmes I’d installed, go back to the store and do the exchange and then reinstall everthing from scratch again.

On the other hand, there is a real pleasure having something so beautifully designed looking as it should.

And it does seem like this ‘spontaneous purchase’ happened at a good time as the ol’ Jag is acting weirder and weirder.

So let’s hope it’s an all’s well that ends well sorta thang . . .

Congrats on the new laptop! It does look sexy and the color matches well too! :P

You know, the more I think about this, I gotta agree that going back to exchange it was the right thing to do. Besides that she’s a *very* Sexy Beast, II. 8-)
Look at it this way: You’re a designer, and in design, form and function are *everything*. My artist friend would have taken it back the first day…it made the time we spent as roommates very interesting, as I’m a tad more “laid back” about most things! We’ve known each other for more than half a century, and I’m convinced it’s the only reason she never killed me. ;-)

    Smart laptop.

    And everything so clean too!

Speaking of which – does anyone know how to keep things clean? Especially the screen. A damp cloth?

The last two weeks my student Pilar missed her class (due to preparing for a new PET machine in the nuclear medicine dept) so I couldn’t get her to play ‘spot the flaw’ and ask her opinion. But when she came yesterday and I told her the whole SB saga she said that there would have been no question about taking it back.

She also said that when she is undecided about something flipping a coin is a good way of finding out what it is she really wants to do, based on her gut reaction to what turns up.

I have to admit I felt quite relieved when heads turned up last Saturday. I wonder what I would have ended up doing if it had turned up tails.

You’d have gone for ‘best of three’, I suspect.

az, I think you should be really careful what you use to clean the laptop screen. There are special wipes for LCD screens, that won’t scratch the plastic. They’re also good on cleaning the case, too. At least, that’s what my friend uses on his new laptop, screen and all.

Have fun playing with your new friend… :)

Yeah, looks like I should either go to the shop and ask for advice or google for info.

Today I had to turn on the Jag to find something and man is it s-l-o-w! I mean, I’d noticed it getting slower and slower but you know how you kind of get used to things when they happen gradually? Compared to SB, the Jag is almost painful to use now.

How weird – I don’t suggest you go to that site because it very likely has viruses on it or something, but it is quite odd and interesting. It seems to consist of an enormous number of posts culled from other blogs with the words randomly changed to somewhat similar ones, as if it had been translated into another language and then back again by one of those automatic translation things that aren’t very good. Presumably some sort of strategy to get past the spam filters.

Too late – I checked it out this morning. And I informed WordPress about it but they say there isn’t much they can do. They suggested that I post about it on the forum for some ‘collective wisdom’ on the subject and actions.

Yeah, the language there is certainly interesting … yeah, I also thought of a translater being used a few times. Some of it is quite funny. Still kinda creepy though.
