Avenida de la Constitución 8
41001 Sevilla

And it seems to fit in just fine with the ‘new look’ Avenida de la Constitución, so the worries I expressed over here last month turned out to be unfounded.

It also has a very good selection of DVDs and CDs. Lots of cool electronic and computer stuff. And they even sell vinyl records! The English book section is a bit small but I did manage to find a Terry Pratchett book I haven’t yet read. Anyhow, I think it’s a rather nice addition to Sevilla.

How do you like the new trams? This one is just for show as they aren’t operating yet. Apparently they will be removing the overhead cables within the year and we’ll be getting battery operated trams – not quite sure what happened there.

Now if they’d just blow-up all the Starbucks that have sprouted like vile mushrooms all down the Avenida . . .

Battery-operated trams? Why not clockwork ones, with a big key in the back…

But a new source of English-language books is a nice addition to any neighbourhood.

Well okay, electric trams with their own power system, which I assume is some sort of battery. :)

I’m hoping the FNAC English book section will improve once they get that particular market here sussed. At the moment there are a lot of hardbacks and lots of the same novel, which looks a bit like they’re just trying to make the shelves look full.

Meanwhile, the CD section is amazing – far and away the best one in town. Also quite good prices for some of the older ones, so the long-neglected music library at casa az might be in for a bit of sprucing up.

az, this is a golden opportunity…if you go to the books manager, and make a few suggestions for some English language books you want,in the genres that just happen to interest you!, you can pretty much direct them in what to buy. You’re right, BTW, I had a books manager explain why his brand spanky new shelves had so many of the same tried and true authors, and no new authors — they were going to let the customers guide they order list.

We have a shiny tram like yours — and it’s great! Smooth, clean, runs very frequently, and they’re over-capacity for ridership already, so they’ve had to order new cars and revamp the schedules.

Are the trams made by Bombardier by any chance?

I dunno … the test ones going about lately sure make a racket. Apparently they won’t be up and running for public use until the autumn.

Battery operated sounds like a great idea. Will be curious to see how this turns out…
