evening stroll

July 20, 2011

On a hot summer night in Sevilla it just doesn’t seem right to go to bed just when the weather is turning agreeable, so lately flatmate Nog and I have taken to late evening walks, which often end up with us stopping off somewhere for a Cold Beer and a tapa. Tonight we made two stops as I hadn’t had dinner, and we ended up going over the river to Triana, thinking it might be a bit cooler. It wasn’t. But it was cooler than inside the house, and there was a lovely breeze. And look at all the pretty things we saw! Plus we got some exercise and our two snacks cost a grand total of 12 euros. I love Sevilla.

Now it’s time for a cool shower and bed…

You’re really lucky to have someplace to walk around in the evening (without having to drive a distance to get there). The mushroomy thingie looks much better at night than it does during the day, in my opinion.

In every city I’ve lived in (other than Winterpeg) I have always chosen to live very central, where I wouldn’t need a car and where everything was pretty much outside my door.

Yeah, the mushrooms look very pretty at night. But I like them during the day too, especially when they surprise you coming around a corner…

If they’re surprising you when you come around a corner, its a little worrying! ;)

Lovely! It’s cool to see the Setas lit up like that. So dramatic!

I do hope I’ll get back to Sevilla some day. It is on my list of “favorite cities of the world.”

I’d love it if you could come back for another visit!

I still think Las Setas is creepy but I’d put up with it for that shade of blue.

It’s around 100 F in Washington today and the next two days. You could wring water out of the air.

Needless to say, it’s wet here in Wales, with such a torrential downpour yesterday that the main road was closed under the railway bridge at the end of our street when I was coming back from Tesco’s ( with some frozen items! ), causing traffic chaos as everyone had to turn around and find an alternative route to their destination!! So no pleasant evening strolls here recently!
