Ever since I ordered these new Mephistos online I’ve been looking forward to their arrival with a mixture of excitement and dread in case they didn’t fit. Well, they were just delivered to my door a few minutes ago and they are perfect! As always, just a bit snug and will have to be worn awhile to break them in, but they are made of lovely soft suede so I don’t expect to have too many blisters.
Wish I’d had them while I was in Granada last week as it was a bit embarrassing to go to my posh tapas tasting at the fabulous Palacio de los Patos wearing my old shredded Mephistos, but hopefully nobody noticed.
So I am as happy as a kid with new shoes (como una niña con zapatos nuevos)!

They look so comfortable! I am really glad that the online purchase worked out.
I’m pretty sure I’ve had this model before, or at least something very similar, which is why I felt (almost) confident about ordering them online. Have got them on now and will wear them around the house for the afternoon… like walking on sunshine!
Cue Katrina and the Waves
I have given up on finding “look nice” shoes that actually feel comfortable. But a few weeks ago I pushed someone else to obtain a decent pair of athletic shoes and before I got out I had bought two pair for myself. I’d been trying to stay out of those stores because I knew I kind of needed some and wanted to put off the expense a little longer… but you know, I was immediately less depressed than I’ve been in months, and even a nasty injury started healing a lot quicker. I spent the rest of the day waving my arms over my head like someone in a revival service.
A couple of my clients swear by Mephisto. I have to wonder how the designers picked out that name.
Thing about Mephistos is that their sandals used to be stylishly cute but their shoes always looked like orthopaedic experiments gone hideously wrong. Then their sandals started going hideous too. I think the pair I just bought are an old style, which is just fine with me.

Well they only “look nice” if you have a fetish for running shoes so overbuilt that they look like part of a space suit. But they feel SO good. I knew I needed re-fitting.
Next time I have to “dress up” (probably not till Christmas) I’ll just *paint* shoes on my feet.
Glad you’re happy with your new Mephistos. I’ve just bought a new pair of sandals – Fly Flot – and they are ‘oh so soft’ leather. I walked around for a good while in the store I bought them from to be sure they were unlikely to start causing me any major problems. Now all I want is the sunshine to be able to test them out properly!
I took mine out for a “test walk” last night and they were perfect. No chafing, no blisters, just happy happy feet.
Sounds like we’re both set up for summer.
