sunday song – herod’s song from jesus christ superstar
August 12, 2012
This morning I was skimming through tweets and saw that Beth (@MrsMagoo) had just re-watched Jesus Christ Superstar and had also done the math. Thirty-eight years! Sheesh that made me feel old. And I was reminded of my favourite song from that musical, so here it is.

Only song that ever stuck to me from that production. “Prove to me that you’re no fool; walk across my swimming pool” is one of the better lines.
One of my faves, along with “Could we start again please?”
It was the first album I bought for myself and the first actual concert I went to (the Broadway cast). The latter was quite an experience for a VERY sheltered 15 year-old as my sister and I made our way (in our Sunday best) through a sea of denim. We sat in the nosebleed section of the Landsdowne stadium and had my mother not given us the binoculars we’d have seen nothing. My first intro to the smell of pot. No parents. As tame as this one was, I think if my mother had known what rock concerts were like we’d not have been allowed to go.
I still have the album but after my sister helped herself to is when my mother was living with her, it suffered badly. I was quite upset because I have kept very good care of all my LPs and this one meant a lot to me.
What a shame. All my vinyl was lost when I moved to England. I was storing them at my sister’s place and her basement flooded. Ah well… prefer my iPod these days.
