sunday song – prelude & fugue nº1 in C major | bach

August 19, 2012

I love Shazam. The other day I was watching TV and didn’t hit the volume OFF button in time when the ads came on, which turned out to be a good thing. I can’t remember what the ad was about, but it used this music, which I knew I knew, except I couldn’t remember the name. So I grabbed my iPhone, turned on Shazam and… voilà!

I can’t figure out what Shazam does.

It’s so cool. If you have the app on your smart phone and hear some music you want to know about, just turn on Shazam and let it “listen” and in a few seconds it tells you the name of the song and the artist. Apparently the version I heard on TV was played by Glenn Gould, but when I found it on Youtube I decided I preferred this one.

I haven’t actually got Shazam, but what impresses me is that it knows the different versions of the song – even by the same artist, so where it can it tells you the album as well.
