a málaga moment

malaga moment
I can’t remember if I’ve ever posted this photo here, but it’s one of my favourites from Málaga. Taken last summer, I think. Anyhow, I will be off again *way too early* Saturday morning for another Málaga Getaway. A bit sad that I can’t take Morcilla this time, but oh well. Peter is going to come for two nights and then come back for cat care duty – he hasn’t been to Málaga for two years and wants to do some research of his own.

Aside from the gut-wrenching thought of being cat-less for almost a week I am really looking forward to my five-night stay in Málaga. I’ll be staying at the apartment I rented last summer, right in the heart of town. Have you got any end-of-summer trips planned?

I do believe I’m going to Malaga for a couple of days. Working holiday, of course, but it’s still going to be fun.

We’re off on a part working holiday, part Ruby Wedding celebratory trip to the USA next Wed, starting off in Washington DC. Haven’t finished packing yet so must go upstairs shortly & carry on with it. Have been distracted with several visits to the Dr. & the Hospital – had laser eye surgery yesterday & had to go back to have it checked this morning. Apparently, I have an unusual condition in my left eye so several doctors took a look at it today! My sight should gradually improve over the coming days & I have to go back in October for some more laser treatment! Have a great time in Malaga! :)

Glad your eye surgery went well. I could never let anyone near my eyes with a laser, brrrrr….

      Enjoy the US!

Yike! Washington DC (I can walk to the city line)… expect the tropics! I just stuck my head out the door and it was like a locker room.

I’d already checked the current weather conditions out online but your description gives a far better idea of what it’s actually going to feel like!! Not sure how we’ll cope … I guess we’ll spend much of the time in air-conditioned premises & keeping well-hydrated. Any suggestions?!

Well, virtually any building will be air-conditioned, and if you are close to the river you can hope for a nice breeze. (Terrace of the Kennedy Center, C and O Canal towpath, Georgetown Waterfront, National Harbor, Port of Old Town Alexandria — though that’s at the bottom of a killer hill.) Also, we’ve had unusual spells of cooler drier weather this summer so you might get lucky. Microfiber clothes really help.

If you visit locations on the National Mall (and I’m not sure I’d waste time on White House or Capitol building tours) the museums are both fascinating and free, but be warned that the Mall space itself is gigantic and bakes brutally in the summer sun, so you need to pace yourself.

Thanks for all that info. We had thought of going to some of the museums, so glad of your recommendation & good to know that they’re free! My window cleaner’s son lives near Washington DC & he also warned me about the heat at the moment!

Natural History is my favorite. Off the Mall (you’d have to look it up), but near by, is the Museum of American Art, and I enjoy that more than the big gallery which is overloaded with European religious art, though the changing exhibits are great.
