WANT!
So, this has been all over teh internets the past couple of days. As you can imagine there have been all sorts of conflicting things written about this new Apple tablet (with the rather unfortunate name), but the review I trust most is this one, written by fellow gadget lover Stephen Fry. And this video from Apple showing the iPad in action totally made me drool …
People keep saying “it looks like a big iPhone” like that’s a bad thing. If you watch the video and see what the iPad can do I dare you to say it isn’t a marvel. Sure, it will probably be even more amazing a year or two from now, but I am envious of Mr Fry being able to play with this first version. This is what netbooks always should have been.
And from the man who brought you The Apple Mactini…

That left me chuckling. Really, that is my kind of iPad. I noticed this afternoon that even though I have all these lists and things on the computer, I still have to use a pencil and paper to organize my thoughts for the blog. Maybe I am just terminally paper bound. Maybe it is my love affair with the medium.

I still use a daybook for organising stuff, though I am using my iPhone more and more, especially because it reminds me to do things. The daybook is only useful in that way if I remember to look at it. And my weekly “to do ” list is written in a small notebook. But I could really see chucking both for the iPad.

Love the video link!
And I have almost convinced myself that I not only want one, but need one… it does all the stuff I want a computer to do, as well as making it all look good. 🙂

Which video link? (there are three)
I love the way the graphics work for the books and photos. Most other things “missing” so far can be fixed later on with software updates, but it’s a shame it doesn’t have a usb input. Other than that I think it’s fabulous.
I also love the accessories … *drool* …

All very well but can it make a decent cup of tea? And it won’t fit in my pocket either.

Az, I hadn’t seen the first video – the woman’s special friend iPad. That one needs a warning label…or my netbook needs a splatter screen protector. Az’s blog, 1. Pat’s coffee, 0. 😉

It’s a giant i phone. Still, I expect it will be on my Christmas list because there is something just so damn sexy about mac products and the way they all talk to each other and almost do away with the necessity of thinking! My web site is now on wordpress courtesy of my fab web site designer. Am just learning how to make changes to it myself, but people can now leave comments so its all very modern and I love it! Thanks to you for inspiration and will come back to Betty Bites before too long but with different ideas for format. xxx

It can’t be a giant iPhone because IT ISN’T A PHONE. Sheesh…
Yes, it will also be on my Christmas list. The perfect companion for my iPhone, making my mobile internet experience complete.
You’re going to love having WordPress on your fab website … very easy to use. And I look forward to the return of Betty Bites. Happy to help anytime I can.

Wow! That does look interesting. And not much more expensive than the highest priced iPad. I like that it can be turned into a notebook – very cool.
Too bad he didn’t clean the screen before filming that vid though…

Yeah, eat chicken wings and then swipe the screen you’re going to be demo-ing. That was, um, tacky? Greasy, more likely.
When Andrew (and I) were about 15 years younger we shook that guy’s hand and chatted him up at a computer user’s group where he was talking about this new internets video thing. He wasn’t quite such a big deal then but he was still very nice to look at.
