I got my CT scan results yesterday (for scan done June 21st) and it’s not a bad report. There are still some unexplained dodgy bits, but nothing has changed much since the last scan in September. At least there are no obvious signs of cancer, so that’s good. The areas of inflammation, and the spot where I was “leaking” before (ewww) are still cause for concern but short of opening me up again and taking a proper look the best they can do is keep monitoring me with scans and x-rays.
This morning the hospital called and I have an appointment with the oncologist on Friday… on the phone! I’ve never done that before. But what the heck. It saves me a trip out there in 40º weather and perhaps it will actually be better as I won’t feel self-conscious about having my notes out in front of me. We shall see.
Good news! We find telephone calls in Spanish difficult, especially with our health centre as you have no visual clues as to whether they understand you…and vice versa!

I actually found it easier than face-to-face. I had my notes out, didn’t feel rushed. Though I wonder if they opt for phone appointments when they know it’s bad news.

Medical suspense hug. Today is my date with the new fork in my eye guy. I’m glad the scan doesn’t have any dramatic news. As we learned during the heyday of Oprah’s Millennium Scan, no one scans completely normal.

The Oprah thing totally passed me by.

The Millennium Scan was a full body CAT scan and it was like the equivalent of 1000 x rays which is maybe why they called it that. People would get it and be told about some iregularity and then it would be all kinds of invasive or unwarranted testing for something that was just a sort of normal abnormality. A friend of my Albino Ex got one and when we fixed him up with a date he regaled her with the results. “Only one tiny calcification on my prostate…” He got it AGAIN the next year and we sat him down and explained that once more time and he would start to glow in the dark.

OMG I have had countless PET and CT scans, also XRays all of which will probably end up killing me before any disease does at this point. Not to mention whatever damage the chemo poison has done.
