Great, eh?

Something remarkably like this happened Saturday while I was cleaning up in the yard. I never knew one lightbulb could cover so much of the dining room floor if you spread it out.
No one confessed.

Oh yes.
Foley in particular is very fond of bug hunting. I suspect his diet is supplemented with the odd spider, though he needs human help to get near the lamp shades where the juicy flies hang out.

I love that “ack ack ack” sound cats make when they spot a prey

You beat me to it. I put this wonderful cartoon on pre-publish last night. Even though I am not a cat person (I am a proper man and so am not fooled by the cat who walks by her own lone) I do find this series seriously funny.

Benjamin is only hunts grasshoppers outdoors and flies indoors… as far as I know. He came home with a vole one day (which he released in the front hall) and that was the only mammal-like or avian critter he has ever brought home.
Neither he or Amber have been the least bit interested in the mice we have intermittently in the kitchen.

Lua was always the huntress in this house. She could catch flies by sitting up on her haunches and swatting her two front paws together – fast as lightning! And any scumbag cockroach that scuttled its way into casa az was a very-soon-to-be-dead scumbag cockroach.
Azar likes playing with moths and *shudder* cockroaches, but he seldom kills them.
Sunny will just lazily open one eye and go “wazzat?” before falling back to sleep.

That always cracks me up too, nursemyra. 🙂

I had a demure tuxedo catlet (think Marlene Dietrich) named Patricia Twinkle who was the deadliest hunter that ever lived. She would sniff every inch of a staircase a mouse had been up. Late winter around here, the mice sometimes find their way in. She once cleaned out a nest and lined them all up on the dining room rug like the body-bagged victims of a Baghdad car bombing. Swaggered around for weeks afterward, where she normally scooted away from humans on sight.
I miss her.

We had a cat that did a similar thing with a nest of rats she cleaned out of the barn, only she lined them up on the back stoop rather than in the house.
Smokey is a pretty good mouse hunter, has been trying to keep the mouse population in the kitchen down. He actually caught one the other day, and took it out in the carport and ate it. Which, of course, puts the lie to the fiction he maintains that the square chunks of turkey in the catfood that he doesn’t really like are too tough and big for him to chew.
This video is seriously funny. And way too true.

That’s terrific stuff. Very, very funny! I have kids that behave like that cat…
