Had to share. I’ve always liked Dirty Dancing except for the one original song in the movie, which they use in the final dance scene. Fucking hate that song. Here you can see the scene has been greatly improved. Enjoy!

Watched the much-touted ELVIS film today. Meh. But it moved me to look up the original video of this song that I had kind of forgotten about. Man, it’s powerful.

Yesterday the world of flamenco lost one of its legendary guitarists, Manolo Sanlúcar. I’m happy to say that I’ve had the honour and pleasure of seeing him perform here in Sevilla, something I will carry with me forever. The video above is from the film Flamenco by Carlos Saura with Manolo playing an alegría. Below he performs with another legend, and probably the greatest flamenco guitarist who ever existed, Paco de Lucía. It’s wonderful watching them together. Decanse en paz, Manolo.

There have been a lot of comparisons made between Morpheus (Dream) in The Sandman and Robert Smith from The Cure (it’s the hair, obvs), but he reminds me more of the lead singer in Gorillaz.
