Another of his claims to fame is having smoked a spliff in the company of Tony Blair. Apparently Blair had dinner with a luvvie friend (whose identity escapes me…I want to say Peter Hall, but don’t quote me). After the meal, Altman asked ‘Does anyone mind if I skin up?’ Nobody did. Altman and (the other guy) smoked away, but Blair didn’t indulge. Altman concluded that he must be a reasonably cool guy.
I know you did. I quite liked it but that was largely due to the Tom Waits/Lily Tomlin pairing. I felt parts of it didn’t work so well but still enjoyed it.

Actually – I think it might have been Sam Mendes.
I have to say…I hated Short Cuts.
