When are you springing forward?
I was talking to a friend of mine in Toronto yesterday and she told me that the clocks were going ahead there this weekend – 3 weeks sooner than usual. Apparently because of some new law passed in the US?
Not sure when we change in Europe but I know the cats will love it – they’ll think they’re getting brekky an hour earlier.
I think we’re putting our clocks back on either 25 March or 1 April – or possibly next weekend. It always surprises me, whenever it turns out to be. I think Western Australia might be stopping their weird experiment with daylight saving before we change our clocks here, and Tasmania will probably delay the change for a few more weeks.
The one constant thing in our office is the daily question, ‘Does anybody know what time it is in Perth?’ Common answers include, ‘two hours behind’ or ‘three hours behind’, or, ‘no, I’m sure it’s only two hours’, or ‘who cares?’, or sometimes even ‘1972’.

I found this list of countries…
Worldwide Daylight Saving
Looks like all of Australia (except Tasmania) is supposed to change on the same day, but if you read the bit on Australia further down the page it seems that the observance of this law is a bit erratic.

Yes, it’s all good fun, and it baffles tourists no end. Incidentally, some enclaves in western New South Wales prefer to use South Australian time. Can’t say why.

I still have two weeks until I’ll be forced to get up earlier *groan* Daylight savings starts March 25th within the EU.
I still think this is part of the conspiracy to force us to work more without getting the extra pay.
…and I just HATE being forced to get up at 5am…

We turned our clocks ahead at 2:00 AM today. Three weeks earlier than usual.

The law isn’t actually new (2003), it’s just going into effect now, supposedly to help save energy. HA. People will just use the electricity in the morning instead of the evening. 😕
The longer period of daylight savings time was tried during WWII, and didn’t make any difference in energy use. I have no idea why they think it’ll be any more efficient now.

Eep! That’s the day we’re going horseback riding in Doñana Park … better make sure to get to bed a bit earlier the night before.

Y’know, there’s another problem with this three weeks early time change thang — the memory trigger “Spring forward, Fall back” will no longer be apt, since Spring doesn’t start until March 21…
And I really resent losing my hour until the Fall! 😦

This is annoying. Woke up an hour ago thinking it was almost 5am and there was still plenty of time to sleep after a quick peek at blog stuff – but the laptop clock said it was almost 6am. And now it’s ten to seven and I’m sure I won’t get back to sleep …

I’m still in bed. More of principle reasons than anything else.
…”them” snatched an hour of my life last night….

I forgot to mention it to Nog. He was up and about for an hour or so, making coffee, doing this & that and then got the funniest perplexed look on his face when he heard the 9 o’clock cathedral bells. He really thought for a moment that he’d misplaced an hour. 🙂
