Does anybody ever read blog pages?
This morning I totally reorganised my various pages and sub-pages so that they were, um … more organised. But then I thought – should I have bothered? Well, other than I actually enjoy doing that sort of thing.
When you go to someone’s blog do you actually read the pages? Or do you only read the most recent posts? Just curious . . .
I normally only read them when I first visit a blog. Once I’ve met the person I rarely check out the pages…not entirely sure why…just doesn’t seem relevant.
Though occasionally if the world is seeming dull I go to an old favourite and see if they have any hidden gems.
Only very occasionally though.

It all depends how much time I have, and usually I don’t have all that much time these days.
Today, I appear to be reading only recent posts. You might have guessed that.

Yeah, I suppose that most pages are just there and don’t tend to change much.
Which is pretty much what my ‘about’ pages are like. Though there are a few posts I’ve turned into pages recently in an attempt to keep them ‘on top’ and alive, though perhaps a better idea might be to just put links on the side-thingy that will bring you directly to the original old post. Then I can remove the Pages widget altogether and just have the pages listed above the header.

I occasionally get visits on my about page from first time visitors [while I do the same] but the rest of the pages generally go unnoticed. Which is why i use the pages generally for information that I would like to say.. but not necessarily want it to be heard. 🙂

Ha! Good point, Ashish (and welcome!).
Which is kind of why I’ve left most of my pages without the commenting option – except for my new/old welcome page – as they are basically just info pages.
Thanks the feedback though, as I’ve now removed the Pages widget and have put linked thumbnails on my sidebar for those posts I hope to keep as ongoing.

Thanks for the welcome. 🙂 I’ve only used 3 themes in my short blogging life on WordPress and two of them show pages by default [like this theme] so it wasn’t much of a bother. I had to use the pages widget only during christmas when I switched to Vermillion for the holidays. I’m too lazy to go and remove it again. 😛
And who knows perhaps I mind find a girl who likes me using the info from the about page.. you never know! 😛

And by the way, cool cat avatar. I’ve noticed that Catbloggers are way popular on WordPress. You are the 6th person I know! LOL

Yeah. We spotted the little fella sitting on the sofa behind my laptop, just as if he was actually using it, and it was just such a purrfect photo opportunity….

I usually forget to read pages the first time I visit a blog, especially if I am going there becuase I have been intrigued by a blog post. then after I have been there a couple of times I generally read the pages if I have time.
I have my pages more for my own info than for other people. I started a “Books I haver ead this year” page simply for me. It seemed like a convenient place to keep that info. Then it turned out that people liked to read it and I sometimes even get comments there. so go figure.

I’m with Alabaster: I read them once, then not again unless they’ve got an intriguing name. Mind you, I’ve referred several people to your tag cloud page as a great example of how to index your blog. Not that you’d know, because WordPress doesn’t give you stats on pages.

Ah, but I did see it as an incoming link from the Forum. Thanks for that – I was quite chuffed when I saw it. 🙂

How odd, I’ve always thought that hits on pages didn’t count.
Maybe you should call your pages “Tits” and “Arse” and so on. Bound to get a few clicks.
