Boy this is annoying.
This morning I was skimming through myAkismet spam file before deleting stuff in case any comments from friends got stuck there by accident and I saw one that at first glance looked like it came from me!!! WTF? Okay, on closer inspection it had a Yahoo search page as the website and the name was ‘azaharwordpresscom’ all together (not just ‘azahar’), but I thought, hell, what if other people get this and think it’s me spamming?. I deleted it but I’ve saved the IP number, which goes to a webpage saying that it originated in Amsterdam. 😕
What would be the point of this kind of spam, since there wasn’t a link in the message? Should I report the IP number? Just forget about it? Anyhow, just in case it ends up in other people’s spam files I wanted you all to know that it wasn’t me! Has anyone else had this happen to them? Or do most people not bother checking their spam before deleting?
Worry not. I used to get lots of stuff from myself at work, usually trying to sell me viagra. Our IT monkeys said it’s quite common.
I don’t know why the spammers think I’d need my penis and my breasts enlarged.

I’ve gotten these, too, but with my own blog name. I’ve also wondered what the point is, as there was no other link. And I’ve wondered about the spam comments that just have a link to google. (Somehow I don’t think it’s Google trying to drum up traffic…)

Well, glad to know it isn’t just me … or even me at all. So phew – I can stop feeling paranoid now. 🙂

Hmmm…this is unrelated to WordPress spam, but I just received a spam email on another account I have that said it was from me! My exact email account showing as the sender.
What’s that all about?
