Another thing I like about this theme (aside from it being more stable) is having two sidebars. And also that the sidebars don’t disappear when you click on a page or a post to make a comment.
I’m just missing that ‘personal touch’ photo on top … I also think the blockquotes could be better ‘blocked’. Oh, still not sure about this. But there’s no point in having a classy looking theme with a cool header if it ends up looking wonky for half the people looking at it. 😕

this one looks pretty good. I can see the sun again.
and your comments link is at the bottom! yay!

These orange coloured letters are a little hard to read – might just be my ageing eyes…

It actually does make more sense to have the comments link at the bottom, nursemyra.
I’ve tried out the colours in reverse on the drawing board, dq, but I’m not sure if it works. It’s just that I’m quite partial to orange and green – most of the themes here have blue links and I really hate blue links (for some reason).
Anyhow, what’s the verdict on the reversed colours?

Well, I find it easier to read “the other way”.

Yebbut, orange where?
I love orange too, but somehow the orange header with green links looks weird to me. And maybe the green header with white lettering is a bit like and orange blossom in a tree (???).
Gosh, I’m going through some sort of blogger identity crisis here with the loss of my original casa az theme. But since people were losing the sidebar, and using different text sizes was making the layout go all wonky, a change was definitely needed …

I like it! I think a header should change every once in a while.

Oh, thanks for that thought mystarbucks. You’re probably right.
This theme is certainly more practical and user-friendly. It also ties in better with my other blogs, design-wise.
In any case, it’s very possible that most people don’t even notice. Or if they do, don’t give it any importance. But you know, this was my first ever blog and I really came to identify with that theme belonging to casa az, and vice versa.

I have been in the WordPress theme changing room trying on various outfits for size, but none satisfy. There’s always a compromise. I am considering redoable lite for the beautiful way it offsets photos, and the fact it also allows a custom photo at top. Aside from changing the headers in the sidebar to suit yourself, a custom header on top is practically the only thing you can do which immediately sets your “off-the-shelf” theme apart from others using it too.
As for going all-out and doing custom CSS, I have enough problems setting up a simple word document. 😉

It’s not easy finding a theme that ‘fits’, is it Ian?
I agree that dark themes like redoable lite are good for photos (I’m using black letterhead for my viajando travelblog). But in general I find dark themes with white text uncomfortable to read, so I wouldn’t use one for casa az as the focus isn’t on the photos here.
As for CSS … tempting. Mind you, I could also just transfer casa az over to my website (which I have done with the sevilla tapas blog) but again, I had real problems finding a theme I liked on WordPress.org – and also problems with some ‘unstable’ themes after trying them out. And I still can’t get the plug-in widgets to work over there.
With CSS would you still get all the usual WordPress.com features?

You can try out the CSS features already, you just can’t save them for other people to see them.
