Thanks to blog buddy Archie I now have a new festive version of Azar the Avatar, which I have replaced as my blog pic and gravatar for the holiday season. But for some reason it isn’t showing up everywhere on WordPress as promised.
Not even here on casa az !
What’s up with that?

He looks so jolly! And I love the snow over everything…gotta figure out how to do that!
How’re your gloves working out? Fair warning, I may need to swipe them, my hands have become frozen claws!

Jolly? Looks more like he’s thinking “you’ll pay for this…” π
If you want it to snow, do the following:
The gloves are great! Even though my fingertips still get cold at least my hands aren’t in danger of falling off.

Some people on the wp.com forums are referring to that snow as dandruff. π
As for your avatar, az – that’s a tricky one. If you wait six months, you might find that all of your posts, comments, visits etc. leave the funny kitty with the red hat. Or maybe not. I changed my avatar and it took about a half-year for the old one to completely disappear. Then, like some zombie from my dim and distant past, it resurrected itself a month or so ago. With the help of the wordpress people we finally drove a stake through it for good.

Caching! Clear your own computer’s cache a few times. But Gravatar themselves may also cache your old image. It’s confusing.

Uh oh, sounds like I’m doomed now, ian!
Damn, I hate it when people tell me to clear my cache, TriG … cos I don’t know what that means or how to do it.

Thanks for the suggestion, TRiG.
And thanks to Nog for finding my cache.

This reminds me of the lolcat on Icanhascheezburger who was wearing a hat and the caption was, “How about if in the morning I dress you up as DEAD?”
Cache? What is a cache? I thought it was a little hut up on tall legs where you could store your meat and other food items where the bears and wolverines couldn’t get it.

Basically, a cache is a store of useful stuff. A hut (on stilts or otherwise) may be a useful place to cache things, in certain climates. Geocachers put time capsules in strange places and record the map coordinates, IIRC.
In computing terms, a cache is a store of files you’ve recently accessed from the Internet (such as images, stylesheets, and the like), which makes your browsing faster because you don’t have to redownload everything every time you revisit the site.

I just saw that my little santa cat was still showing up on Nog’s computer (Firefox) even though I changed it back last week. So if any of you are still seeing Azar in a santa hat then I think you need to go and clear your cache.
