I really resent that this quiz asks “Do you own a dog?” Why in god’s name does owning a dog affect your longevity? I can just predict the blather: the love of a dog yada yada…
It doesn’t ask whether my NEIGHBORS own dogs, who frighten me out of a year’s growth about twice a week barking psychotically because I dared to walk out in my own back yard. I know I would live longer if I could stitch those two yapping retards up with an Uzi. Just sayin’.

The question that irked me the most was the one equating being single with being in an unhappy relationship. Huh?

It says I will live to be 79 too. But I think I’ll aim for 89 like my dad. And I agree, Azahar. Not everyone is unhappily single.

79 for me too. I’d be happy with that, I guess! The dog thing is statistics, which show that statistically speaking, dog-owners live longer. Although I’m pretty sure it applies to other pets too. But hey, let’s not start on statistics!

Mine says 88. I believe it. I come from long lived stock and I do take good care of myself.
Sorry that you have such a bad opinion of dogs. There are some real stinkers out there. But, I believe that the makers of this quiz were studying actuarial statistics when they made it, and despite the fact that there are some nasty dog creatures out there, the fact that you own one and have that unconditional love source does increase your life span. Just as having a cat will. The question would have been better put if they asked if you had a pet.
As far as the question about relationships, all these questions were either/or, right? Either you are in a happy long term relationship or you are not. It is not intended to put down the choice to be single, it’s just that having a committed partner is something that tends to extend your lifespan, if for nothing else because there is someone there to call the ambulance when you fall down and hit your head, or to do as Jim did this week and make sure that I had adequate hydration available to me at all times as I lay in bed with the 101.9 degree fever.

The choice was to define your relationship status as either:
· In a happy committed relationship
· Single or in an unhappy relationship
I should think that being in an unhappy relationship is much worse for you than being single. I don’t see how they are at all the same thing.
And yes, the other question should have asked if you had a pet, not just a dog. Though I’m quite sure that my feline love sources are totally conditional on me keeping the cat dishes full and doling out snibbles several times a day.
