The other day I took a photo of Azar trying to make me laugh by doing his new death defying sofa walk. In fact, I took several photos but only managed to get one that wasn’t totally blurry. So I promised to make a video of him doing “the walk” … and here it is. Perhaps this isn’t the best example of his daredevil twists and turns (he’s usually more daring and energetic and often falls off) but it was a spontaneous moment, so I went for it and tried to cajole a performance out of him.
Cute, isn’t he?

It is the first time I have seen Azar’s “hockey stick” in action, poor thing… Still he manages incredibly well and it certainly is death-defying. It reminds me of when I was a kid and the floor was the ocean and you had to walk on the “rafts” of furniture.
He’s a lovely puddytat.

I wish he’d let me pat him when I visited

Most people don’t notice his hocky stick leg at first, Mudhooks – here is a pic of him showing it off (taken in the wee hours on the iPhone, so kind of blurry). He actually gets around on it very well and can run like the wind on three legs … it’s when he walks that he has a distinct limp. Anyhow, that is actually his “lucky paw” because if he had been able to defend himself in the street I wouldn’t have taken him in. At the time I thought that having two cats was enough. Azar proved me wrong.
You and almost everyone who has met him, nursemyra. When I used to have flatmates next door some of them went to extreme measures trying to get him to come closer and let them touch him. They never believed me when I said Azar was totally playing with them. Why spoil the game by giving in when the humans were being so entertaining? So far the only other human who has touched Azar (other than the vet) is Nog, which I think only happened because we used to share a bed and that somehow made Nog seem “safe” to Azar. I still remember the first time Nog picked him up – it was hard to tell who looked more surprised. 🙂
Oh dear, that video with the wee kitteh has made me feel all “broody” …

He looks like Basement Cat! That and surviving the death-defying sofa walk, something is definitely going on here 😉
(Can you tell I spent too much time on icanhascheezburger yesterday?)

Wow, he is adorable! My cat does the same thing. We have what we call the Moroccan room that has a 15 foot high ceiling with an eight inch ledge jutting out about ¾ of the way up. I’ve tried to block it off, but he always finds a way up there.
I love the way he talks to you!

The top of the back of the sofa is like a sacred mountain top. Only one of our cats spends much time surveying the house from that special ridge line.

I thought that was a hysterical video, it is so totally “Cat” to completely Not Do what your staff person wants you to do at the time. I truly enjoyed seeing Azar in action, what a funny guy he is.
I am really relating to the difficulties in getting cats to pose for the camera. I have been trying to get a good picture of Smokey while he is “out and about” the place, and mostly what I have are butt shots and blurs as he turns away. Brat cat.

Azar is WAY CUTER than Basement Cat, Toy Box … it’s those big ears. 🙂
I love the way he talks too, Scott. We often have quite long conversations and he always has to have the last mieow.
What’s curious is that after 14 and a half years he just came up with the back of the sofa walk, Zeus. Took me by surprise.
Since making the video Azar has done several more “walks” that were much funnier, hmh. Typical.

He ‘spoke’ in all the right places – adorable. And he is SO black – really black black. I love him (and I don’t much care for cats – doggy person me) 🙂

Adorable! You could dub a sound track of Azar’s voice in all the places where he is talking in that video, I just love the way he chats back to you 🙂

He’s not only black black, Puddock, he is also very shiny. Which I am told means he is a very healthy boy.
He really has quite the vocabulary, woo. He even goes “woo!” (seriously), as well as various chirrups and moans, and he has such a perfect “mieow” that makes you almost expect to see a cartoon bubble beside his head.

I could loop your videos and listen to the cat talk all day. You’d think I wasn’t already listening to two talkative ones around here, but that is about the sweetest sound there is.
Is Azar as “plushy” coated as he looks?

Absolutely, dq. 🙂
He is super plushy, Sled. And super soft – I’ve never felt fur so soft before. It’s almost like feather down. And his winter coat is still growing in – he’ll be even plushier in January.

He is so very cute! I loved hearing his meowing. He’s quite the conversationalist as well as a stunt performer!
