These are the three little ones that one of the volunteers has at her home because they’re too small to leave at the shelter. Nog likes the orange one (great ears!) and I do too. But I also think the grey & white one has a very pretty face. And the black & white one looks quite mischievous. I should be able to meet them in person tomorrow…

Impossible to choose! I’ve been staring at them for the last 10 minutes and I can’t even begin to decide.
All I’ve come up with so far is:
1) Big ears – maybe that means this one will grow a lot bigger (in the same way that puppies with big paws and ears tend to grow into much larger dogs), in which case, would little Azar be overwhelmed?
2) Pretty is nice, but pretty will probably be snapped up by another family if you don’t take him/her. Pretty doesn’t tend to be left ‘on the shelf’ and most likely has a good future awaiting him/her.
3) Mischievous sounds like the kind of kitten who’ll get adopted by a family who think its fun… for a few weeks, but who will then tire of the hassle and either return or abandon him/her. Mischievous will probably need more than a cat-lover; a real cat-understander. But would possibly be the most rewarding in the long run…?
Good luck!

Interesting reply, truce. I don’t think Azar would get overwhelmed if the size thing grows on him, so to speak. I realised when I was at the shelter yesterday that Azar isn’t a very big cat compared to some of the ones there – and he’s got enormous ears! Re: pretty faces getting adopted … there were so many with pretty faces at the shelter that I’m not sure this is actually the case. I kind of like the pic where she (looks like a she) is staring up at the orange one. As for the mischievous one, there was another pic of him chewing on a toilet paper roll and I thought of all the “fun” he and Azar would have disembowling paper products together. Yeah, I don’t mind about stuff like that, or worry about things like curtains and soft furnishings (you should see the state of my sheets thanks to Sunny) so you may be right about me being the best taker for him. Oh I don’t know!

I think the black and white one will have the nicest fur. They’re all cute, so they’d all be the right choice!

Yeah well, I can almost see myself coming home with all three…

I’ve had all sorts of cats in my life, and the little black and white one looks like he not only is mischievous but has a lot of personality to boot. The grey one looks absolutely sweet. The orange one is one I am pretty partial to, I have always loved orange cats and in my experience they are usually mellow and fairly intelligent. I’m sure whichever one you finally choose will yield the much anticipated totally Cute Catness pictures we are all yearning for. I would post pictures of Smokey but he is far from cute at this point, being a perfect skeletal anatomy specimen at this point of his thinness. He is slowly fading away, still all there mentally and in pretty good shape considering everything, but thinner and thinner and thinner. One day I fear I will look for him and he will have simply faded out like the Cheshire Cat.

I’ve never had an orange cat. Maybe it’s time. He’d definitely go with the decor here!
Poor old Smokey. Sunny was the same, going from 6.5 kilos to 4.5 in about four months. I’m sure he’d have wasted away even more if that saline drip hadn’t caused immediate kidney failure. In a way it probably turned out better that way because I don’t think I could have brought myself to have him put down and he would have ended up suffering a lot more than he did in the end. I hope Smokey goes well and without much pain.
Uh oh, crying again. My poor Sunny. I miss him so much.

orange ones are usually nuts (like our Jacques…)….my favourite cats though are the street cats that have adopted us…they have the most character.

OMG, he does look like Jacques! Yeah, I’ve been waiting for a street cat to adopt me but haven’t come across any lately. These little guys were all found together in the street so I’m reckoning they will all be quite feisty.

My orange cat is not only nuts but his tail curls in a corkscrew. His latest stunt is leaping up on the kitchen counter to drink out of the filter pitcher while it’s draining from the top through the charcoal filter. I’ve seen the little maniac launch himself across a seven foot gap between tall pieces of furniture.
My original bias was toward the orange guy here but I’m in the same mind as most readers, they all look perfect.

Oh well gee thanks … THAT helps narrow it down. 😛

I am a sucker for a grey and white tabby – I looked at that kitten and saw my Rocket-man, who passed away in 2005. Rocket thought he was a dog – one of the smartest and most affectionate cats I’ve ever owned, he was the only cat I’ve ever owned who truly only wanted to live indoors. He was only three or four weeks old when I got him, weaned too soon, and forever bonded to me and to ‘his’ dogs, with whom he slept nearly every night of his life.
And that little grey and white guy made me think of all that, on first look from a little internet picture.
I know which one I’d take. 😉

That grey one has gorgeous markings, doesn’t she? I love that pic where she is staring up at the orange one. Personally I’m a sucker for black cats and either calico or tortoiseshell ones, which was why Indira was so appealing. Well, that and the fact that we bonded immediately (I can still feel her sleeping in my arms). *sigh*

I’m voting for the black and white one…. but the ginger one is cute.

It’ll be hard to decide – they’re all cute.
I think I’d be tempted to go with the one which took most interest in me and seemed to be on the same wavelength.

I’m with Teuchter.
Kittens are always cute, but there are much more than cuteness in a cat, as you know. Choose the one you think will get along best with you and Azar is my advice.

I was JUST going to say something in the same vein. Kittens are Always Cute. It is their stock in trade.

That’s exactly what I found with Indira yesterday, Teuchter … *sob*
The grey & white one is certainly the prettiest, nursemyra.
I do try to imagine them older and, of course, am thinking of what’s best for Azar, dq. Otherwise I would have taken any one of several from the shelter yesterday.
Haven’t heard back from volunteer. Am expanding search …

As a dog lover, I don’t really understand how cats work, but with dogs I think you can take your existing pet to meet a potential new adoptee. Is there any way of introducing Azar to the potentials before chosing his new friend?
They all look so cute, but the grey and white gets my vote.

Any of the three. Which one seems the best fit with the cat you have right now. I wonder if the orange one will grow into the giant ears?

A friend had the most unusual orange cat… In fact, he was pretty much a rusty red. Calvin (after Calvin and Hobbes) I loved dearly. His other cat was Booboo. There had been a Hobbes, at one point but I think he died. I only knew Calvin and Booboo. As much as I liked Booboo, I LOVED Calvin. Booboo, unfortunately, peed everywhere. Calvin was vary fastidious. Mike finally had to build a “cattery” out in the garage for them. Calvin he could let in the house but Booboo was more or less kitty-non-grata, poor fellow.
I am SO glad that we have finally managed to keep Amber from peeing on the new floor. I was just at the point where I was ready to do the unthinkable and have him put down.
In case anyone wonders, overnight, Amber was using the box exclusively. Not even peeing on the mat that he used to pee on (a pee mat designed for the purpose). We put down a shallow pan with a “amorphous silica gel litter infused with hydrolyzed herbs” designed for senior, pregnant, and long-haired cats.

I HIGHLY recommend his “litterbox solutions”. He has a booklet which you can get at vets (free) or find one in every container of the litter. You can also download the PDF here:

I didn’t think it would work but it did… overnight.
