Really it’s been ages since Morcilla has done this and I had hoped that she’d grown out of it. But then all of a sudden there she was, racing up those curtains in a flash… it always kills me how, once she gets to the top, she does this look-around thing like “oops, now what?”. I don’t let her stay there feeling foolish. I go over and give her a “proper chastising” (with a kiss on the head) while disconnecting her claws and helping her come back down to earth. She ends up thinking she’s got away with something, and I melt in a puddle of love. Goodness this little girl has completely stolen my heart.
Thankfully, Benjamin never tried that little hobby out.
He probably learned a lesson when, one night just after we got him as a kitten. We used to put him in the bathroom at night, with his basket, a clock (to mimic his mother’s heartbeat), and a hot watter bottle because otherwise he would be running around on us for hours, biting our toes. He would cry for a few minutes and then go to sleep.
This one night, he just kept crying and I finally went in. He had jumped up at the back of the door and caught a claw in the pile of a towel. There he was, hanging by the one claw and crying. Poor little guy.

Awww, poor baby Benjamin. Of course if Loki tried this he’d bring the whole thing down, curtain rod and all.

And walk around with it in his jaws boasting that he’d caught it.
