luna belly rub

My pretty Luna doesn’t end up getting as much “air time” as her more colourful siblings. I’ve often talked about how Luna is Pure Cat (as opposed to Loki being a Total Dog and Morcilla an Alien Being that hopefully comes in peace…) and she really is the most cat-like cat I’ve had since Lua. Except Luna is more affectionate, though in her own way and exactly when she feels like it. Anyhow, this is Luna in bed the other morning. As you can see, she just LOVES a good belly rub. Well, wouldn’t you?

those eyes! those ears!

It’s Luna’s first birthday! Well, nobody really knows for sure, but this is the day I’ve decided to celebrate her birthday. When I first took Luna to the vet last September I was sure she was only about 6-8 weeks old because she was so tiny, but Yolanda said she was actually between 3-4 months old (!!!), which meant she would have been born in June. And so I’ve chosen the 7th because that’s Azar’s birthdate – and mine – just as I chose December 7th for Loki (the vet had guessed December 8th, so what’s one day for continuity’s sake?)

Those top pics were taken the first day I brought her home, when she was still being kept in quarantine. The photo below was taken at the beginning of this week while she was enjoying a morning sunbeam out on the balcony. She’s still quite small and still very pretty.

Happy birthday Luna!

I remember Loki being quite an energetic kitten, but nothing like this one. Luna is into everything all the time and tears around the house like she has hellhounds on her tail. She is also a great leaper and climber and will hurl herself upwards with paws and claws outstretched, latching onto the side of the chair, sofa or – gasp! – those long white curtains you can just about see in the photos. Needless to say, said curtains will need to be replaced once she grows out of this “turbo kitten” stage. Luckily they only cost 8 euros at IKEA. I’m telling you, nothing is safe with her around – not even her!

A couple of nights ago I found her playing with the reading lamp…
