What the hell’s going on here?
I’ve recently been finding comments in my Akismet Spam file from people who have been posting here regularly.
Not only that, but most of the comments I’ve been posting lately have ended up in the Spam file … including comments I’ve posted on my own blogs! WTF?
And well, when they happen on my own blogs I can easily remedy the situation by going to Akismet and de-spamming comments. But I just posted a comment on Ivan’s blog and it didn’t show up so I’ve had to email him and ask him to de-spam me. Most inconvenient, not to mention annoying and confusing.
I’ve sent an email to WordPress Support and hope to hear from them soon. Just wondering if anyone else has been noticing this happening on their WordPress blogs?
Not yet. Hope it doesn’t start. Of course, I don’t have that many comments at my blog.

Well, it’s not even being able to post on my own blogs that is really weirding me out – like why?

Just like that last one, and probably this one – will have to go and retrieve it from SPAM.
Shit.

Yeah, and your blog was making my messages spam- and vice versa. And last week I couldn’t access your blog at all! The horror! I wonder what the glitch could be?
I hope it’s resolved soon.

How was my blog making your messages spam?
Anyhow, have sent in an email to WordPress support and they have replied saying they are looking into the problem. And now after submitting this I’ll have to go to SPAM and de-spam it … gaaaaa!

I don’t think I’ve been turned to spam yet, and az is the only person who’s been classed as spam on my blog. It’s only happened once so far. I couldn’t see anything in the post that would have made a person see it as spam.

The problem seems to be fixed now. I actually sent in two emails – the second one with a link to this post – and got an email back saying that one email was quite enough and that they were working on it. 😳
It is actually the sort of thing that does happens on occasion, which is why it’s always a good idea to check your spam file every day. But it was happening with all my posts today (and part of yesterday) so I was getting a bit exasperated.
Anyhow, if anyone else ever has a similar problem just send ONE 😉 email to wordpress support .

The ol’ spam blocker has become a bit over-zealous once again. I’ve found a few friends in my spam file today and now I even have to go and retrieve my own comments from there after I post them.
Not sure this time if it’s specific to my blog or if it’s more a widespread Akismet thang. Anyhow, won’t flip out this time. Have notified WP and I’m sure it will be sorted out soon.
But can any of you who read this go and see if I’m stuck in your spam file? Thanks. 🙂

Yesterday I couldn’t find the Askimet spam thingy so I wrote to Feedback and I found out that it had been moved from Dashboard/Manage to Dashboard/Comments.
Just thought I’d pass that info along in case anyone else couldn’t find their spam file.
Great service from WordPress though – heard back from them straight away.

Hmmm…for awhile lately I was amazed that I was getting hardly any spam at all in the Akismet file, but now things seem back to ‘normal’ again. I wonder what happened. It was really nice not to have to eliminate 50-100 spam comments every day…
