I love this programme.
And I’m also slightly in lust with Hugh Laurie – who’d have thunk that Bertie Wooster had such a gritty & sexy side to him? Add to that a great supporting cast, excellent snappy & intelligent dialogue and Bryan Singer as executive producer and you get totally compelling television … not something that happens very often.

And because we started in the middle we not only have the excitement of wondering what happens next, but what happened before, too!
An enjoyment only slightly marred by having to wipe the drool from the corners of az’s mouth from time to time.

Oh I completely agree! Its brilliant and he’s just soooo sexy 🙂
I was out last night and missed most of the episode, which was incredibly frustrating. I must figure out how to record programmes on the new TV here!

How come that a drug abusing, malveolent, rather unpleasant besserwisser is so glorified? Just because he’s male…?
IRL HE would hardly be tolerated, and SHE would have been thrown out Med School the first year…

“Just because he’s male…?”
Hadn’t thought of that before. Though that’s where the sexy!!! bit comes in for me. 😉
Why? Because he is a larger-than-life character, seriously conflicted, very skilled in one area of his life yet totally inept in others, very intelligent and talented with a razor-sharp wit … I could go on.
Have there never been similar female characters in TV series? Have to admit I’ve seen almost next to no TV in the last 15 years.

Its not because he’s male, its because he’s funny. That’s it for me. Maybe I wouldn’t actually fancy a woman who was that witty and caustic, but I would still tune in to see her every week!

OK, I’ve not seen that very much of House, MD but I have two major objections.
First, you don’t do good diagnostic work or achieve good results from your team by being a jerk. That is contra productive. Scared and humiliated people underachieve enormously.
Secondly, medicine today is rarely a one man show. It’s a multi disciplinary work where input from various field within medicine is necessary.
The myth of the misunderstood genius is hard to get rid of.
…and I still got a vague memory of Mr Laurie as an upper class twit nursed by a butler (Stephen Fry) singing “give me lobster on a clean plate”.
Yes, I know I am a grumpy old bitch.

Perhaps they should make a TV programme about you! 😉
Heck, even your name would be perfect for the title.
