Bill Moyers on PBS – Buying The War
This evening at 9pm PBS will be showing this 90-minute documentary, which looks well worth watching (you lucky North Americans!). But it also looks like it’s going to become available on Watch Again, as is the excellent Faith & Reason series, so I guess I’ll just have to be patient. . .
Four years ago on May 1, President Bush landed on the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln and delivered a speech in front of a giant “Mission Accomplished” banner. Despite profound questions and the increasing violence in Baghdad, many in the press confirmed the White House’s claim that the war was won. How did they get it so wrong? How did the evidence disputing the existence of weapons of mass destruction and the link between Saddam Hussein and 9/11 continue to go largely unreported?
Aha – I see they have put the video up already, so I’ll be able to watch it later on today!
Has anyone else seen it?

I watched it last night — really good, he brings up some things which haven’t been aired before, at least with the connections outlined.
Also, Mr. Moyers will be returning to weekly PBS programming. I hope he can hold out against the PTB in congress, who are still trying to cut all funding to public radio and tv. It was tangling with the jerk put in by Bush as the CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting that made Moyers quit in the first place.
Now, go watch that show, it’s good!

I did watch it – it was VERY interesting. And I’m so glad to see Mr Moyers back in the saddle again. I’ll be looking forward to the new weekly Journal programme.
Did you ever watch the Faith & Reason series?

I caught some of that series; I’m pretty jazzed that he’s back on a weekly hour long show; the interviews he did tonight were very good, particularly of Jon Stewart and the “new” news sources…
I’m very glad to get my good news people back!
