The other day I talked about seeing this gorgeous Sony camera with a 3″ viewing screen, blah blah blah. And so today Nog & I went to have a closer look at one. I asked the salesclerk if I could actually see one ‘in action’ but she said none of the cameras on display were charged up. It was only when we said ‘okay, we’ll take it’ that she got one out of stock, opened it up, put in the battery and showed us how the 3″ touchpad screen worked. And guess what??? It was what I’d suspected … the menu icons run up both sides of the screen so the image you actually see is 2.5″. What a scam! Especially as all the promotional stuff I’ve come across shows a full 3″ screen with just an image. Pah!
Then on the way out of the shop I saw these cute Fuji cameras I’d noticed at another place. And I thought … hmmm, it has almost the same specs, it also doesn’t have an inny-outy zoom lens, it’s darn cute and about 2/3 the price of the Sony one. Which right now means something to us, having just spent 150 euros on special catfood and meds. So spending 175 euros instead of 300 almost cancels out the vet bill (if you think about it that way), and we’ll still get a new camera that should work much better than the one we have now.
So the next question is … which colour? Just look at ’em all. There isn’t a silver option and so I’m leaning towards either the metallic red or lime green. What do you think?

We’ve established that I have no eye for colour (and/or that they are being rendered differently for me), but I am boring enough to like the ones either side of the bright blue.
If I was choosing for you, I’d probably go for the red.

well red is usually my favourite colour but in this case I’d go for the green

Oooh that is boring, Johnny! š
Yeah, I’m thinking the metallic lime green one is the cutest, though the red actually looks nicer ‘in person’ than in the photos.
Meanwhile, just had a student cancel classes in December due to a family problem so not sure if we’ll be getting the camera at all. Also looks like Lisbon is definitely out. š¦

I tend not to be so swayed by the colours of “things”.
This is a bit like choosing stuff with my wife – cars for instance.
Several years ago we had a discussion which went along the lines of:
Me: Maybe we should have a Renault Laguna.
Mrs. BBJP: What does one look like?
Me: There’s a green one over there (pointing).
Mrs. BBJP: No I don’t like that – what’s that nice blue one over there (pointing in the other direction)?
Me: A Renault Laguna (sighing heavily)!

Hmmm, probably not surprising that I’m with Mrs BBJP on this one. An example. Someone in my neighbourhood owns a new beetle convertible that is cream coloured with a black top and looks like this. Now I think that looks very cute and stylish. However, all the other ones I’ve seen in solid colours (usually a garish red or weirdo green) makes them look like clown cars to me. So there! š

I more or less expected something like that!

C’mon now … do you really think this looks as good as this? Honestly?

That’s a little bit apples and oranges though, because you’re not comparing two soft (or hard) tops of different colours.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that I don’t prefer things in one colour or another, just that the colour of a product wouldn’t stop me liking the product itself – viz the Renault when we were looking for a car.
I can see the car I like, then look for it in the right colour(s). Mrs. BBJP, if she doesn’t see it in the right colour, tends not to like the car, rather than just the colour.
