I got an email from blog buddy John Pangia this morning letting me know that since he started using a widescreen laptop the layout on the casa az blog has changed for him (he sent me a pic of the screen – that’s his on the bottom).
I’ve always known that if you use a larger text size than ‘normal’ (Firefox) or ‘medium’ (IE) then the layout of this theme goes all wonky, but it also gives people with visual problems the choice of using a larger text. And I just assumed that most people would be using normal text size for internet browsing. But after getting John’s email I did a test on IE using medium sized text and my sidebar doesn’t start until half-way down the page (if I use the largest text option on IE the page basically becomes unreadable). So now I’m concerned that casa az is looking wonky to most people and that maybe I should change to a more ‘stable’ theme.
And so, what does casa az look like to you? It should look like the pic on top (with different width margins depending what kind of screen you have). Can you also let me know which browser you’re using and what type of screen you have? Thanks!

it doesn’t look like either of the two screens. the sun and sidebar are way down the bottom for me…..
I kinda miss them 😦

The sidebar comes and goes for me – it depends (I think) on the “width” of the postings. When Terry Pratchett, for instance, was at the top then the sidebar was fine. Sid in the City, made it drop to below all the postings.

Well, that’s pretty crap if the sidebar keeps slipping down the front page. Though the sidebar does ‘disappear’ when you click on the post itself (rather than look at the home page).
Are you both using IE with ‘medium’ text size, nursemyra & Johnny?

um… I think so. I mean I know I’m using IE but I didn’t know you could change text size for viewing purposes (is that what you mean?)

Well, if you’re using IE and normal text size then your widescreen probably looks like the one in the following post (upper left)?
Yes, you can change the text size by clicking on ‘view’ and then ‘text size’. If you haven’t changed it then it’s probably on ‘medium’.
John tells me he’s using a slightly larger text size on IE, but somehow he still got the sidebar at the top of the page. Hmmm…
