f_musicalnote.giff_musicalnote.gifBlackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Black bird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
all your life
you were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise,oh
You were only waiting for this moment to arise, oh
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

I was lying in bed this morning around 5.30, cursing that I hadn’t slept enough and dreading the alarm going off at 6.45 … and then I heard it. The first blackbird of the year, singing outside my window. And I smiled and almost laughed aloud because their song is so happy-sounding (before I knew their name I always called them the ‘wonky birds’ because they never seemed to sing the same thing twice). Oh, I’m so glad they’re back . . .
