The kittehs of caza az looks cute, friendly and not-to-mischievous as usual.
The Lair Cats are in some sort of bad spell presently. They typically sleep all evening, – Leopardess preferably in my lap – and then when I’ve gone to bed and just fallen asleep they start all over… Lynx is very talkative and wakes Leopardess (and me), she gets angry and chases him under the bathtub, under the bed or into a corner and then starts to scream very loud. Alternatively Lynx wakes up at dawn, puts down keys, watch, figurines or whatever he can find just to make me get up and feed him. (I don’t feed him at dawn, he has to wait until six o’clock when I get up) Three nights out of four one of them ends up in my study for the rest of the night.
Apart from a weekend away a month and half ago I really don’t know when I last got a night’s undisturbed sleep. It’s like having babies and toddlers again.
Loki is doing better at sleeping through the night, though now I have two of them hogging my pillow. Sometimes if Loki won’t settle down I gently rub his front paws and toes, which seems to have a calming effect on him.
Of course Azar always gets first dibs on pillow space. Once he is all comfy then Loki can find a spot for himself.
Nog still sleeps with his door closed because he has restless leg syndrome and Loki, if he gets up in the night, finds twitching legs under the duvet just tooooo irresistable. The four-legged full-body pounce is his speciality. 🙂
Those boys look awfully comfortable. And it is sweet to see how well they have melded together.
Restless leg syndrome actually responds well to stretching calves, hamstrings, and quadriceps thoroughly before bedtime. Jim had that problem for years until I finally convinced him that stretching was “The Thing” to do. He hasn’t had trouble with it for over four years now.
I’m sure the stretches would be more effective than bananas, but Nog would actually eat a banana (or two) a day whereas he would never bother with stretches. As for fattening … well, you’ve seen him. Not exactly an issue.
I feel so terrible about what I found Amber suffering from today.
I KNOW he’s needed his nails trimmed for a while now and I have been looking for my nail clippers for two weeks and he has been clickky-clackking his way around the house. Mom has been asking me when his nails are going to be done. He has an appointment on Monday to have his two broken fangs attended to and I was going to get them to trim them while he is sedated. But I thought I would have a look at his paws this morning.
That was when I discovered that the middle claw on his left front foot had overgrown and either grown into the pad or perhaps jabbed into it when he jumped down from the couch.
It is infected.
I managed, with much crying and biting (his) to snip the nail with a pair of jewellery wire cutters and extract the pointy part from the pad.
In my defence, he had been to the vet last week and the vet didn’t see it, either, but still… I feel terrible.
Well, since you’re going to the vet tomorrow anyhow, I’m sure he’ll get sorted out. I remember the vet telling me that Azar’s back claws were way too long (?) so she clipped them. I guess when they get older and don’t move around so much they don’t get naturally worn down so much. I was just used to them looking like that.
I hope you feel better now that you’ve confessed! 🙂
I wasn’t sure whether I should rush Azar off to the emergency vet’s today or not. He started gagging a lot during the night, vomited twice, and has been looking very sad all day. There was a tiny hairball in what he threw up, but it was mostly liquid. Then he threw up again in the afternoon, but otherwise he’s been eating and keeping most of it down. Anyhow, he managed to puke all over the duvet cover and the sofa so it’s been quite a day of washing – and totally peeing down with rain with no way to dry anything. Aaack. I just hope he’s okay and this is a passing thing. Could be he’s picked up the feline herpes from Loki, though the whole point of getting him vaccinated was so he wouldn’t catch it.
Meanwhile I’ve been hacking and sneezing and feeling like total crap the past couple of days with this awful cold. So time for bed and I hope to feel better tomorrow, though not sure about making it to yoga class.
Benjamin has been sneezing a bit and seems to have been barfing more hairballs than usual (like in the middle of the dining room table, down a chair-leg or on my vacuum cleaner). However, he has had his shots and he had the same thing last Spring, so I think he may have some sort of seasonal allergy.
He’s had all his shots, so I am less worried abut some sort of disease.
Especially as he appears to have contretemps with one of the town bullies in the co-op and has a scratch on his upper lip.
How the hell do they justify that price? Nog had a tooth removed awhile back and it only cost him 40€. I was surprised that it actually cost less than getting a filling.
That’s what is costs…. 4 teeth. sedation, IV, X-rays, plus a cleaning and antibiotics (the fangs were pretty inflames and messy), and looking at his toe….

sorry for the butt in (longtime lurker from h2g2)
restless legs can be sometimes helped by bananas, as they contain both potassium and magnesium, which help alleviate leg cramps

Heleloo! My goodness, what a lovely blast-from-the-past surprise!
I think Nog would probably be more likely to eat a banana every day than do stretches, as suggested by hmh.

I hate to rain on lulu’s parade, but the stretches are likely to be a lot more effective. See sledpress’ comment as well.

Oh, and less fattening too.

Well, if you want to talk butts, you could always see if there is an issue with cramping from nerve irritation in the general gluteal area.
You shove an elbow in the bun and see if someone yelps and points.
I’m in a bloodthirsty mood at the moment and would just love to find a good hot rotator trigger point.

I’ve always been of the opinion that Nog could use a shove in the bun. 😉

The vet {$1048.00 later WITH the senior’s discount for Mom) pulled 4 teeth and had a look at his toe. His toe looks fine.
