My favourite room in casa az is the living room. And my favourite feature of that room is the built-in bookcase that fills one entire wall. As you can see in this photo, that wall is at an angle, and so the bookshelves were “angled-out” to create more of a straight-line effect. But this means that if the books are actually lined up straight with the edge of the shelves they aren’t flat against the wall on the left-hand side … which leaves a perfect hiding place for sneaky little kittens.

They look like they are having so much fun. Adorable!

I have a bookcase with a little space behind it in the massage room, and every now and then a cat slips in and then emerges through the books… sort of like the Alien emerging out of John Hurt’s chest, but nicer.

No dog-eared pages in your library!… just cat-gnawed…

Heh, I love that centre pic with just the tips of his ears showing.
He’s also been known to drag bits of unsuspecting asparagus back there, and gawd knows what else. I’m too afraid to look.

Very literate for such a young kitten… DT wants to know if books are extra tasty to cats?

Bookshelves are made for cats to prowl around in/on/around… Mine are in general inhabited with at least one cat 🙂

I love the top right picture where you can just see two ears and a bit of eye. It looks like he’s peeking over the book thinking “I wonder if mom can see me? I’ll just sneak a peek”. He’s such an adorably cute cat!

So cute – I love the one where he’s peeping out over the top of the books. Not so happy to see him chewing though – I wonder what title it was…

He’s chewing on Carol Shields so no great loss. In fact a lot of the “S” section is a bit meh. One shelf up and he’d be in Pratchett!

You arrange your books alphabetically! I am so impressed! So do I!
Keep him away from the Pratchett at all costs!

I am sorry to report that he has now made it up to the Pratchett shelf, as well as behind the stereo.
Dreading the day he can leap up onto the kitchen counter…
Doesn’t everyone organise their books alphabetically? After creating categories? I have just two categories – fiction and nonfiction.

My whole house is infested and I have hardcover novels, paperback novels, mysteries, science fiction, world literature of a non novelistic nature, books on music, history, biography, occultism, politics — all in discrete locations. Perhaps I should combine those last two. And of course one alphabetizes! I alphabetize my clothes!
