Cool… Cloudy… Though it has been sunny in the last few days, there have been frost warnings for the Ottawa Valley. However, I have forgotten two nights in a row to bring in my indoor plants that I put on the patio to “harden up” and they have are okay (I know I am pushing my luck and should bring them in this evening, just in case).
We usually use the May 24th long weekend (Victoria Day) as a starting point for outdoor planting, So we have one more weekend to go before we should be safe for the “spring”.
Still, the temperature problematic for me because at my age, I am always too warm but my Mom is freezing so she wants the heat on while I am sweating without having even done any moving around. You can imagine how I have felt while trying to do the unpacking and settling in with the heat up at 23 (she had it at 25 the other day before I turned it down!).

Uff, that sounds really uncomfortable. It’s about 20º in the apartment right now (7.30pm) and I’m quite comfy with a t-shirt. But as you can see, the temps are going to start rising …

‘Sposed to be high 80’s here today. Warmish. Iris are done for the year, tomatoes probably need to be watered.
No Jacarandas up here, lots down in So. CA, though. I think they are the most beautiful tree in the world when they’re blooming. But messy!

Yeah, but it’s a nice kind of messy. Same as when the orange blossoms start falling off the trees.
I noticed the jacarandas for the first time yesterday as I was coming back from the hospital with Nog. We were on our way to the tapas place and passed a HUGE jacaranda tree and I got a shot of it with the iPhone. Later we passed this one square that is totally surrounded by jacarandas. We had also spotted that a Medieval Market was set up in a park near that square and so we went back today to have a look and I took those collage shots.
The Market was actually a lot of fun – check it out…

Gosh I wish it were like that here… rain, drizzle and freezing cold here in Plymouth…

Cool cloudy and wet here in the Missouri Ozarks. Unseasonably cool, actually, which will probably make my tomatoes and eggplants sulk. The irises are loving it, though.
It has been my observation that if a shrub or tree flowers they are pretty much messy. I love the beauty so much I can put up with the fallen blossoms. Those jacarandas are absolutely beautiful.

We are heading towards winter down here at the end of the world. It’s a cool 4 this a.m. The rains haven’t started yet, so the temperatures are low. Also, the winds from antarctica haven’t arrived–the part I hate the most about winters in Adelaide.

Tidewater thunderstorms hit this afternoon just as I needed to walk over and pick up my car from a repair. Feh.
This weather comes along every Spring and makes me feel like I’ve been dropped out of an airplane.

The Russian heat arrived yesterday. It’s warmer than the average summer day. Still, at 19.30, it’s 21C – my thermometer showed much over 30 this afternoon. I spend a couple f hours out at the balcony, guarding the cats and had an early dinner. I think I managed to get a little burned. Sunblock in mid May is usually just ridiculous.
Maybe I even dare to store my winter jackets if this weather continues.
