I have to say that this summer is going so much better than the last two. Not only for the obvious reason of this being the first summer in three years that I haven’t been on chemo, but also because of summer jobs and work projects. First off, Nog has got a gig this month teaching a couple of intensive English classes at the language school across the street which – fingers crossed! – might also mean work in August, and perhaps a steady part-time position afterwards. This takes a whole lot of stress off of me as it means Nog will be able to pay his share of the rent & bills, at least in July. Meanwhile, my long-time student, good friend and GP Agustín has continued with his once a week English classes this month. He has always taken a “time out” from July-September and so I reckon these are kind of sympathy classes, but what the heck – I’ll take em! And I am continuing with my social media part-time job, which I am LOVING. Which for me sums up all the paid work I am doing, however…
The rest is also stuff I am loving and I am busy-busy-busy all day long. And I feel very confident that come October I may actually have something resembling a proper income (so far I am still not making enough to live on). It’s been a long road, especially after being off work for about a year and a half because of all the cancer stuff. I never thought that getting back on my feet would be easy, but I also hadn’t reckoned on it being so damn hard. But my plan to diversify and take on several different-yet-related work projects seems like it may be about to pay off. Watch this space!
And you guys have helped me so much, including recently with donations for cat stuff and the Málaga trip. Thank you! And right now I also want to say a special thank-you to someone who wouldn’t want to be mentioned by name, but who has sent in a regular monthly donation since around spring 2009. These have stopped now due to recent changes in this person’s life, but I have to say that this regular “income” truly made my life easier in so many ways, often arriving when I needed it most. And so many thanks to You, for all of these things at various times: for helping to pay my bills, buying me some clothes, taking me out for tapas, paying for groceries and for my yoga classes, and especially for helping to adopt a wee orange kitten and making me feel loved. I know that my cancer scares you and that this is how you have chosen to show you care, and I have appreciated it so very much. And I love you for being a friend who believes in me. That is probably the most important thing you have given me.
Which hey, also goes for the rest of you who are still with me.
There are times when I feel even richer than George Bailey! 🙂
who is George Bailey? Its a wonderful life? Indeed it is, in so many ways. And so bloody hard in others. I am currently looking for a new lodger to help me get me through the summer and my heart sinks further which each new application of highly unsuitable people! I shall go and meditate on it all now…. x

Oh damn, it’s such a shame that young Agustín didn’t work out for the summer, but I saw Paco yesterday and he asked if October might be possible if he can get his work stuff organised – he’s still very interested. Why not post something on Twitter? That’s how I found a tenant for my last month of having the apt next door.
Yep, It’s a wonderful life…

I miss Jimmy Stewart… That was one of his best roles, I think. He looked like he was having so much fun at the end.
