BBC does it again…
I first became curious about this programme when UK people on Twitter kept posting tweets about it this summer (happily without spoilers), so when it became available on Amazon I decided to order it on spec … but I sure didn’t expect what showed up in the post the other day. Turns out this latest version of Sherlock takes place is present day London – a concept that at first jarred and I was unsure about it working. But after about ten minutes into the first episode I was hooked. It’s clever, well-acted and fun to watch. Too bad there were only three 90-minute episodes made. One more episode to go so no spoilers please…

I thought it was brilliant, some of the most innovative and memorable telly I’ve seen in quite a while. Enjoy!

Apparently I still have the Moriarty episode coming up, who apparently made 2legs swoon (or so he tweeted). Intrigued…

I absolutely loved this. There was quite an on-going discussion on h2g2 with the general consensus being that it was fab.

I’m scared now, ’cause Sherlock Holmes always was my dream man (with only slight competition from Mr. Hudson of Upstairs, Downstairs) and I could get all swoony again if this is done right…

Well you’d be robbing the cradle with this version of Sherlock, but you like ’em young anyhow… 😉
I first read the complete works when I was about fourteen … really should try them again.

If you want to really lose your marbles go back to the canonical Holmes for a while, to refresh the flavor, and then grab Laurie King’s “The Beekeeper’s Apprentice.”

Sled, seriously, get ready to swoon!
Loved the show and happily it’s been recommissioned with a few more episodes next year.

Now that is the best news I’ve heard today! But a whole year away…

Yes, unfortunately it’s a whole year away. But as each episode is about 60-90 minutes, i.e. the length of a feature film, it’s no wonder..
Besides, all good things..

I haven’t seen it but with all this positive feedback, I will do so when the opportunity arises. I, too, read the complete works many years ago … I started when I was ill with pleurisy & kept going. I’ve seen all the old TV versions & have been to the Sherlock Holmes Museum in Baker Street, which is worth a visit.

Not seen a thing about this… BBC in Canada seems to be behind the times, recently.
I’ve seen both actors in a number of things (Martin Freeman in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, of course). I’d certainly like to see it.
Typically… the trailer “isn’t available in your area”…. Wouldn’t want to actually entice people to WATCH your programs, right? Sighhhhh.

Wonder if we can get this in the US? I’ve watched many of the recent remakes of Sherlock Holmes, loved the TV one with Rupert Everett and quite enjoyed the recent movie with Robert Downey and Jude Law.. as much from the visuals as the story.
Off to search!

Have to say the ending of the last episode was rather unsatisfying … still, I enjoyed them all very very much.
