This week’s Friday Foto Finder challenge is “hate”.

Brussels sprouts are ghastly. 😀 Great take on the theme.

The devils vegetable. There was something on the box a while ago that said it was all about enzymes so sprouts really are something you do either like or hate.
A friends mother used to make Sprout Curry. He was banned from most peoples houses whenever we knew he’d been partaking…

I LOVE sprouts. However, I hate celery so that would be my take on the theme.

Yeah. Celery is a very much over-used vegetable. I don’t mind a little chopped fresh but cooked some people use it as the main ingredient in spaghetti and stews… Ick! And don’t get me started on green peppers. Red, yellow, and orange are fine cooked in moderation but green peppers are disgusting. And many restaurants use it as The main “vegetable” in dishes.
Raw red, yellow, and orange peppers (and purple!) are fab with cheddar cheese!

I have rarely met a Brussels Sprout that I liked. In the main, I have found them entirely too bitter.

Apparently if you cut an X into the bottom of the stem before steaming them then that cuts the bitterness. In that pic above it was the first time I ever sliced them up before cooking them and they weren’t bitter at all.

I can’t eat radishes… Like ’em. They don’t “like” me. Horrendous radish-burps ensue.

If the Brussel sprout is now the only vegetable that Peter hates then that is indeed a grealt leap forward from when he was young when he had an aversion to just about every vegetable!!

I asked him about that and he admitted that he never used to like vegetables. Can’t say he goes out of his way to eat them now, but the only one he refuses to eat is sprouts.

Great not grealt 🙂

I have eaten brussels sprouts and loved them… yet the last time I tried to prepare them, I had to agree with MFK Fisher, I believe it was, who commented that the best way to deal with brussels sprouts is to open the window and throw them out of it. They became compost.
A fidgety vegetable.
