This week’s Friday Foto Finder challenge is “flower”…
Every spring in Sevilla the orange trees blossom and their flower is called azahar in Spanish. It’s actually an Arabic word that simply means “white flower”. The first time I smelled the lovely fragrance of orange blossom in the air almost twenty years ago I was transported to a very happy place and that is why I chose azahar as my internet nickname. Previously I’d found a little black cat in the street and I called him Azar, or “happenstance”, loving the play on words and that both words were pronounced the same (or near enough). And now that I have my very own orange tree on the terrace I am hoping to have my very own azahar next spring.
Check out what other Friday Foto Finders are posting over here!

Lovely. We’ve seen lots of orange trees here. It must be magical when all the trees are in bloom. My internet connection is too slow, so I’ll have to wait with uploading a photo until I’m back home, I guess.

One of these days, I will have to visit Sevilla in the spring so that I can smell the orange blossoms with my own nose. (That’s an expression, right?)
I love the story of the names.
