It’s been a long while since a television programme just blew me away like this one. Got it delivered by Amazon on Monday afternoon and I am just about to watch episode 8. Great writing, acting, characters… am loving it. Okay, it helps that I am on “semi-hols” so I can watch up to four episodes at a time… but I also don’t want it to end. This is right up there with The Wire, The Sopranos and a few others I can’t think of at the moment. Okay, gotta go…
I don’t know. It’s a good premise, and there’s excellent writing, but the women on that show are just stock characters. That English woman exists only to give the main character someone inferior with whom to have a past. It’s to me a pretty good example of misogyny disguised as feminism. Which is not to say it’s inaccurate when it comes to the news industry: Not at ALL!

Interesting! Though I think calling it misogyny disguised as feminism is a bit harsh. I think the main character isn’t supposed to be totally likeable but, as you say, it may just be showing the typical newsroom the way it actually is.

We watched season 1 a few weeks ago…..we loved it too, until the last couple episodes, which we thought were way too weak. Still, I’m looking forward to watching the 2nd season.
