Bit of retail therapy today. A garlic press that not only presses but also slices peeled garlic cloves into fine slivers. At least in theory (haven’t tried it yet). Will let you know…
What’s the last kitchen gadget you bought?

Looks like you have a solid press there. Probably better than the wooden one built by Gutenberg.
My latest kitchen gadget is a can opener (we call them tin openers here, wrongly, because cans are not made from tin, which is very expensive compared with steel). Anyway this can opener was not the cheapest I could find, but almost. It was, however, useless.
That is until I discovered, using the combined resources of Google, BT broadband and Dell that some can openers don’t open the top of the can, but do open the side of the can, very close to the top. Welcome to the 21st century!
Needless to say, that can opener has been confined to the back of the drawer, and a cheaper one purchased, which opens the top of the can. Old habits die hard, and so do tin openers.

It’s like all those acrylic pepper grinders I’ve bought (or been given) over the past 25 years. They always work like shit and fall apart in less than a year. When I was buying the garlic thingy I also picked up a cheap wooden pepper grinder and it works like a charm.

Hope it’s as good as it looks. I recently bought a pair of silicone ‘pouch pods’ for poaching eggs in … eggs-ellent!! They can also be used for other things.

They can also be used for molding … & chilled if needed before flipping pod inside out to release … or baking … eg cakes. They are microwave, freezer & dishwasher safe & they float in water!
