I almost never take a siesta but it was such a lovely fresh afternoon (and I was zonked) so I got into bed with the cats. And it felt wonderful! I really think I should do this more often. Make time for a short snooze after lunch. Do you siesta?

Rather more than I should, recently. I wake up all cranky and upset… Like a 3-year-old…

I am a routine napper and have been campaigning over the last couple of months to normalise the siesta trend throughout Australian universities and workplaces. Definitely let yourself indulge in siestas more often, they do wonders for your physical and mental health! Research shows that a nap as brief as ten minutes can improve your mood and productivity, alleviate tiredness, increase adertness and even reduce errors made at work. Even if you don’t fall asleep, simply switching yourself off for 15-20mins will re-charge your batteries and enable you to work through those drowsy afternoon-hours. Try to keep them under 30mins though otherwise you’re bound to wake up groggy..
