I’ve mentioned this woman and her YouTube channel before, since I first started off looking for exercise options that didn’t require me getting on the floor (I mean, I could get down there but I wouldn’t get back up again!). I’ve tried a few others but Lauren’s videos are not only safe and sensible, she’s also not “overly enthusiastic” if you know what I mean. And now that I’ve decided to take most of the summer off, well what better time to get back into (almost) daily exercise routines.
What I like best are the options. I can choose a simple 15 minute yoga stretch or short pilates core session, or go for a 35 minute cardio with weights session which, trust me, is a full-on work out. She also offers standing options, which I can also do (except for lunges) and the best thing is that I can this at home, when it suits me.
Ideally I’d be doing this every day but you know… life. I’m trying really hard not to beat myself up if I miss a day because the whole point is to enjoy this, and also my extra free time this summer. It’s still early days, so I’m hoping I’ll get into the swing of this.
I HAVE to make time to sample these videos (says the woman who is about to jump up and Do Her Day because… life). I may be the rock biter who dragged herself up and down hills on a walker until the artificial hips stabilized, who hits a rack of weights every third day and clocks mileage no matter what the weather, but my clients are everything from similar fanatics to people with all kinds of injuries or obstacles like arthritis or chronic pain, and every single person in the world deserves a workout they can do to improve well being without being hectored by a chirpy in-your-face cheerleader.

Oh yes, I would certainly recommend her videos for anyone with mobility or chronic pain issues. I like that she labels her workouts as being “For Seniors or Beginners” so you can choose how you want to feel described as. But really, I am enjoying them. Just working on how to make them more of a daily habit.

This is extraordinarily well timed. The other day when you mentioned your workouts in passing I thought “I should ask Az who’s workouts she does” and here we are! I just finished a one month trial of a walking workout app and it was pretty dull and samey, and only 10 minutes. So I’m now going to subscribe to this channel & give it a go.
The timing is great because I start a new job tomorrow, working from home. This frees up some time in the morning – before I was heading out at 6.30/6.45am whereas I will need to be at my dining room table at 9am from tomorrow onwards. I can therefore commit to 30 minutes or so most mornings in an effort to increase my fitness, my mobility (I’m seizing up rapidly) and hopefully shift the alien that’s attached itself to the front of my torso over the past year or so!
Lauren’s selection of workouts looks great so I have high hopes.

Wow that’s great about the job change. So much more time for yourself now. Yeah, start with whatever, I’d go with pilates or yoga ones and build up to the ones that use hand weights. Even a 10 minute core workout leaves you feeling more perky.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll do that.
I wasn’t so happy about the job change at the end of May – the company I worked at for 18 years failed & closed. But so happy with the replacement and a better work/life balance π
