I love it that there was a public resignation letter, protesting the lack of precautions, from so many volunteers (some of whom were disabled people, a demographic that especially can’t afford exposure). If only there were more news coverage of that.
Currently fuming over a cheery e-mail from the Engineer’s distance runner dad: “There were six families at the reunion, Blatch and his wife couldn’t come because he tested positive, Blortch was sick too and stayed home but it WAZZENT COVID (right),” oh and he went for a “jog” with Blootch “even though I am still hampered by respiratory problems” (this is a guy who has run marathons on seven continents but somehow now has “respiratory problems”). “Hope you’ll join us next year!”
Uh, no.
And we’ve had this conversation over and over. It’s as if people have just disconnected a part of their brains. I wrote three pages of a reply I’ll never send. I can’t with these people.
I’ve totally given up on “these people” though perhaps writing the three pages was a bit therapeutic. I tend to get things off my chest here. Or screaming into the void. Depends.
Meanwhile 5 members of the Australian polo team have already tested positive and the games haven’t even started.
It’s a clusterfuck, isn’t it?

It’s like nobody watched the Tour de France.
