Hmmm . . .

You scored as A classic novel. Almost everyone showers praise upon
you for your depth and enduring relevance. According to your acolytes, everything you say is timeless, erudite and meaningful. Of course, none of them actually listen to you. Nobody listens to you at all, but it’s fashionable to claim you as a friend. Fond of obscure words, antiquated notions and libraries, you never have a problem finding someone to hang out with. The fact that they end up using you to balance their kitchen tables is an unfortunate side effect, but you’re used to being used for others’ benefit. Oh the burden of being Great.

Murdoch cancels OJ Simpson plans

It’s not often people overestimate the bad taste of the public, but happily Murdoch was wrong and there are still some levels to which they won’t stoop. f_ok.gif

6-word stories

Hemingway once wrote a story in just six words (“For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”) and is said to have called it his best work.

A couple of my favourites from the Wired website linked to above are:

  • Easy. Just touch the match to
    – Ursula K. Le Guin
  • Longed for him. Got him. Shit.
    – Margaret Atwood

How about you? What would your 6-word story be?

Similar idea to the favourite films post.

Talking about your favourite books of all time as well as simply good, enjoyable reads.

And it would be nice to have a bit of a ‘blurb’ about them, along with your opinions, rather than just lists of titles and authors.
