The last time Paul was here we got to talking about the HOT MESS that is my website setup. I mean, it’s ridiculous really but, in my defence, when I first started building self-hosted websites I was learning as I went. But at this point anyone looking at my FTP file manager would just shake their head (as Paul did) and say “what the fuck?”. So, as this is actually his work, I asked him if he could help me with, ahem, tidying things up a bit. At first we tried this via WhatsApp but then decided it would be better to wait until he was back in Sevilla. Which is now!
We decided the best time would be on a Sunday afternoon (yesterday) when things are pretty quiet around here and, as it’s also back up to 42º, nobody really wants to be outside. To make it feel less like work for Paul I said that after we finished we could get some takeaway pizzas and he could help me with one or two of these lovely red wines from Mallorca and Valencia that have been hanging around for a couple of years. I’m more a white wine girl, so having company – the first time having someone over who wasn’t a handyman since 2019! – seemed a good time to crack these babies open.

Yesterday the shelter where I adopted Loki sent an email asking how he was doing and if I could send them a photo of “Panchaquito” (the name given to him by his foster family). Bit of a surprise to hear from them 13 and a half years later. And so I had to tell them he died in March and then suddenly I was crying. My god I still miss my big orange boy so much. 🧡🐈

I will never ever tire of – or take for granted – this simply lovely view I have from my “office” at Caza Azahar. There are three balconies here, two face the building across the street but this one looks down a narrow pedestrian street and this is what I see from my office chair when I take a moment to look away from the computer and look out the window. The view constantly changes at various times of day, from bright and sunny to softly lit twilight to the glow of the street lamps. And I love them all.

Summer sales always get me thinking about the basics and what needs stocking up on or replacing. And part of the reason for this most boringest blog on the internets (takes a bow!) is that I have a daily account of stuff that happens in my life, including mundane stuff like buying new sheets. A quick check informed me that it was only two years ago that I got new ones. Way too soon to fork out for more new sheets, especially as my top sheets and pillow cases are just fine. It’s the bottom fitted sheets that are fucked. Elastic is shot and there are a few tell-tale L-shaped cat tears that at any moment could rip wide open.
Anyhow, this is either my week for new discoveries or just me finding out that these things were always there and I simply didn’t know about them. So just like IKEA delivering small items for a mere 3 euros, I found out that I can purchase bottom sheets separately from Bassols. Continue reading
