Do you have a Kindle?

My cuñada DKL mentioned this on a post awhile back (can’t remember which one) because she knows what a gadget junkie I am. And I’m really trying to like it and begin coveting it, but I can’t honestly see the benefit of having one (even if I could – at the moment they aren’t sold outside the US).

First of all, with a $359.00 purchase price and $10.00 per book, it’s not really any more economical than buying normal books, well, until you’ve maybe bought about 50 of them.  Also, I’m suspicious of the “revolutionary electronic-paper display that looks and reads like real paper”. Could it actually be much different from a computer screen (I cannot read long texts on a computer screen)? And what happens when you’ve reached the 200 book limit?

Basically, I can’t see the advantage of a Kindle over having one of these fabulous Toshiba lightweight beauties, which of course would do a lot more. But if anyone would like to convince me otherwise, I will add a Kindle  to my gadget wish list, though it’ll definitely come after the Toshiba Portégé, the iPhone and the 3-in-1 HP.  🙂

Sometimes the banalities of life just don’t make for solid Twitter status updates. Add a little mystery and confusion with the Twitter Status Generator.

I must admit that I still haven’t really got the hang of my Twitter page yet. But this looks like fun and the above tweet was scarily accurate. A few other generated tweets I liked were:

Back in March I started using Safari as my back-up browser. But over the months I’ve been very frustrated at how very very s-l-o-w it is and so the other day I checked out Google Chrome. And I love it! It’s fast fast fast and has lots of coolisimo features. And casa az looks good on it too.

I still prefer Firefox and will continue to use it as my primary browser, but it’s fun having other options and set-ups.

Is there anybody out there still using IE?

The HP TouchSmart 2 All-in-One multimedia PC is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and comes with a 22-inch LCD display, integrated DVD burner, WiFi connectivity, 4GB of RAM and integrated WLAN, along with wireless optical mouse and low-profile wireless keyboard with numeric keypad, and built-in TV-tuner.

I was out this morning with Judy, who needed to buy some printer ink, and we ended up in the computer section of El Corte Inglés.  I took the opportunity to visit, fondle and otherwise drool over, the gorgeous lightweight Toshiba that I’ve been coveting since last January. And then I saw this beautiful beast. I could hardly believe it … an all-in-one PC with no tower.

And so forget the iPhone. I decided I need more motivation than the purchase of an iPhone next year to overcome this cancer thing. 😉 Instead I’m planning to get one of these 22″ screen babies for my ‘office’ at home and the lightweight Toshiba for when I’m out and about (and I’ll still have Sexy Beast for when I want computer access in other parts of the house). Of course this will be after I work out that great new biz idea that’s going to make me rich and require that I have all this stuff. . .

What the heck – if I’m gonna dream might as well dream big.
