I can’t live without electric fans. If I had my way (and if they weren’t so ugly) I’d have ceiling fans in every room. Last year I splashed out on this new Rowenta, intending it to replace the old faithful one I’d had for about twenty years, in the end held together by by twist ties and luck, until that luck finally ran out. Originally destined for my bedroom (and I did try it there) it was better suited for the living room, mostly because it didn’t have a timer and I don’t always want or need it going all night. Also it’s more attractive and I see it all day there (unlike in my bedroom).
Out of the two other identical bedroom fans bought years ago, Peter’s had begun sounding like a turbo jet engine, which he dealt with last summer by sleeping on his good ear. So this year he has inherited mine (which is totally fine, so far) and I’ve got this new one. Silent AF! With a timer. It also oscillates all over the damn place, not a feature I’m interested in, so side-to-side mode for me. But you know, with all these electronic features I expect it to conk out long before my old faithful one did, or even before the newer Rowenta (which just has a quaint three-speed dial, nada mΓ‘s).
Now waiting for handyman Luis to come over to do the annual filter cleaning on the AC unit. And then, fingers crossed, all is set for the summer HEAT.

Here are my wrinkly old feet wearing my brand new red sandals. And omg I am so happy. I haven’t been able to find cute red sandals for YEARS but suddenly there they were at the little shop across from my house. And cheap too. I mean, these are the type of sandals that maybe last one season but that’s just fine by me, especially after the past few years wearing the same (frankly not pretty) black Skechers because I couldn’t find anything else. Really, I was just buying the same model over and over again because I knew they fit and were comfortable. And well, I still have them because they are serviceable (and comfortable) but it’s so nice to have something else that’s cute. And red. And also sooooo nice to finally say goodbye to they tyranny of tights and shoes until next November.

I believe this is the first time I’ve ever been fully prepared for sandal weather! Usually it’s a quick slapdash pedi as I’m heading out the door when the temperature suddenly goes up to 25ΒΊ. But after so much RAIN these past couple of months I’ve been keeping my eye on the weekly forecast more than usual (mostly to see when I can hang up the laundry) and noticed that this weekend it will indeed be 25ΒΊ and sunny. So today I popped in at my neighbourhood pedicure place and they said they could take me right away. After a quick trip home (almost next door) to change into sandals and pick up the fresh bottle of my favourite polish that I bought last week, I was back and an hour later I had happy toes. π
I remember last summer I was feeling a bit guilty getting “regular” pedis (think it ended up being three over the season), especially with not working much and being skint. But I’ve decided that a little self care is worth it, and that I’m worth it too. Cannot wait until the weekend. The azahar is still out too. Heaven.
