When I went to Morocco last year it was the first time in my life that I had the distinct sensation of being somewhere “foreign”, even though I have visited and lived in different countries (and continents) over the years.

Had a lovely time out last night. Some of you may remember that when I was in Asilah with Susan last year we met an artist in the Medina called Tachfin. He told us he was planning to have an exhibition of his work in Sevilla, which finally happened in December. I had been planning on going and, as usual, left it until the last night … and even then I almost didn’t go because of the cold and I was feeling so tired. But I’m very glad I made the effort because it was great seeing Tachfin again and meeting his ex-wife and good friend, Violeta. We had a few tapas at the  Galería Taberna Anima (very cool venue) and chatted until quite late. Hoping to stay in touch with both of them. Oh, and Tachfin gave me one of his watercolours as a birthday present!

You can see some of Tachfin’s paintings below the links…

hamadi orchestra

Today’s Photohunter theme is “music”.

When I was in Tangier earlier this year the best restaurant I visited (and visited twice over the weekend I was there) was not only exceptional because of its food, but also because of the small group of musicians that played while we ate. At first I thought they would just be distracting or noisy, but they were actually very good and enhanced the whole dining experience. Way better than musak!

You can see (and hear) them in action below the links…
