Oh Lordy! I don’t know which is more shocking: you going to McDonalds or you saying you were “accidentally born” in Winnipeg! What’s wrong with Winnipeg? At least the blessed country still recognises the enlightened rule of Her Majesty.
Poor you ma’am. After all you’ve gone through to be tricked into going to McDonalds. There’s nothing worse than accidentally (or rather carelessly) cooked lettuce. I think my disgust with McDonald’s started at a young age with the accidental cooking of lettuce. And the strange spongey “mechanically recovered” meat. What’s all that about?

Accidentally born in Canada, really. And nothing wrong with Canada, just that I never felt like I belonged there. It was never Home like Spain is.
I have to say I walked straight into that McDonald’s with eyes wide open, but it occurred to me afterwards that I didn’t really have anything to “quality control” test the Dani burger against, since my last bite of McD’s had been about 40 years previous… but I wasn’t about to take that extra step, not even in the name of Serious Research.

I’m not sure it’s possible even with serious research. It’s a depressingly awful experience from beginning to end. I don’t understand how people actually like the stuff. And they seem to. Especially our French brethren. I just don’t understand it.

This kind of thing was why I didn’t realize that food could be good until I was around sixteen…

I didn’t even know what broccoli was until I was 16! Very inspiring and exciting to learn that all food didn’t come out of a tin or a box. Which was when my passion for (real) food began.
