What makes you feel loved?
There are so many ways I am able to love, so many different ways of expressing that. But I think it’s maybe something we’re not so good at defining for ourselves, in terms of what we need in order to feel loved.
What makes me feel loved?
When someone listens- and really “hears” what I say, even if I am rambling.
When someone looks out for my best interests, even if I’m resistant.
When I come home from work, and dinner is ready, no matter what said dinner actually consists of.
When someone is interested in ME, not for what they can get from me, but for what I have to offer… there is a subtle difference, and I can FEEL it.
Genuine friendship, caring, trust and respect.

Someone who knows what I need to be told, and tells me it rather than what I want to be told.
Someone who can listen to me rant when I’ve had a bad day and know that I’m not ranting at them.
Someone who understands my passions, even if they don’t share them.
Someone who pushes me to be a better person, in a load of different ways.
Someone who I can just touch for simple human contact and not anything sexual, just the sheer comfort and relaxation of contact.

I like what HonestIago said. That pretty much sums it up for me. Especially the part about being able to listen to me rant and know I’m not ranting at them. Even more, he listens to me and then empowers me. For example, the other day I came home from a walk pretty upset because the city Parks Dept. decided to fill ina couple of ponds in one of our large parks, which has made it it into an almost completley birdless park. After I ranted for a while, he said, “Why don’t you write a letter to the Editor of the paper?” “They won’t print it.” I retorted. “Well, at least you will be doing something rather than just feeling powerless.” So I wrote it, and sent it. Surprisingly, it got printed.
Yeah yeah, someone to touch just for contact. But also someone whom I can trust enough that I can get the deepest and most passionate contact without ever feeling in danger. For I have found that when I am completely comfortable, feeling totally safe, I can reach greater heights of passion. And that is good too.

Came across this quote about LOVE this morning – it’s from Neil Gaiman’s Sandman series:

A few things that make me feel loved are:
– unexpected kindnesses
– when someone not only listens but asks the right questions
– seeing someone’s face light up when I walk in the door
– when I tell someone to just piss off and leave me alone! and then they don’t 😉
Mostly for me it seems to come down to trust and feeling understood situations. But a little romance in life is also most essential, otherwise it’s a bit like eating popcorn without salt & butter (or insert metaphor of choice).

Spring time without the blossom?
Those points you made for feeling loved are true for me to.
Plus the fact of knowing that doing those things gives the other person real pleasure.
