Be afraid … be very afraid!
Surely this is child abuse, at the very least. Imagine these kids in twenty years time … an American version of al Quaeda (with access to nuclear weapons!).

Hi az! Was inspired by your example and thought I’d start up a blog on this site too. (From Dan aka thesamovar aka Dogster on h2g2.) Software seems quite nice and I had no idea there were so many h2g2 bloggers out there, might go and say hello to a few now.

I wanna puke!
Religious brain washing/”education” should be illegal for anyone underage.
I´m glad I´ve taken my betablockers today. Else I´d probably had a brain haemmorhage by now.

Dragonqueen, I feel your pain – and I share the urge to be violently unwell. Ugh.
(Hello, thesamovar. Can we call you sam for short?)

Hi az,
Just dropping in too to say hello.
The trailers are about as scary as you can get. The American Taliban on the rise, eh? What interested me particularly was the comment that people on the Christian right wing thought it was a good documentatary, while many moderates will be truly disgusted by this.
Take care,

Quite agree with dragonqueen that this sort of brainwashing/indoctrination of children should be illegal. And that disgusting woman oughtta be locked up. What responsible adult would ask small children to die for anything? Grrr…
*waves to Dan* Nice to see you here!
You too, Woodpigeon. 🙂

Call me sam if you like, but I might get confused :-). Am trying to figure out how to make it say my name in that little space instead of thesamovar.

I live in the middle of the Bible Belt and even the rabid christians around here think that Jesus Camp is over the top.
Of course, as Hitler knew very well, the best time to brainwash anyone is when they are very young and impressionable. In twenty years, are we ready for a living breathing version of “The Handmaiden’s Tale”?

As one commenter on the video said, “Religious Reich” — indeed!
I’m seriously beginning to wonder about the future of humanity, forget the political stuff. Our very sanity seems to be on the table here.

Frigtening and disgusting… I had someone respond to an article I wrote on our fellowship blog that I was condemning the children for their religious fervor…
“Every day I watch teens who are intelligent, beautiful, and spiritually seeking try to find answers. If I understand correctly, the Unitarian movement believes in seeking spiritual truth. These teens aren’t as you have depicted in your blog. They are simply teens who love God, are seeking God, or who just want to come together to celebrate their faith. You’ve painted a dark picture my friend, and I’m afraid it’s far from accurate.”
My response:
“A careful reading of the article will note that I made no comment at all criticizing thre motives of the youth joining BattleCry. My criticism is with the motives of the group, itself, and with those motives of those who are supporting the group.
While the youth may be simply exploring their spiritual path, motives of the group to which they belong are very evidently dangerous. I would point to the Nazi youth as an example of how groups can use appealing messages to indoctrinate their youth.
As the articles and links I provided more than support the view that I have presented, I would suggest that “There are none so blind that will not see”.”
I condemn the adults for whipping up and then using their religious to further their own political ends… Oddly enough, just what the “religious right” says about the Muslims. Of course, its “okay” for Christians to do this because they are “good” and everyone else is “bad”.

Every time I think they have gone to far, they go and take that extra step. As far as I am concerned the FBI should be blowing in the walls like they did at Waco and trying to rescue these kids.
The video clip showed signs of distress and anguish that will have these children in therapy for the rest of their natural lives.
I can’t write any more that has just upset me too much.

Well, if they’re lucky and end up getting therapy. But in order for that to happen they’d need to be removed from that sick environment first.

Forgot to thank Mudhooks for her link – very interesting stuff there!
For one thing, why is this place called ‘Battle Cry’ fer fuck’s sake? The name itself speaks volumes.
