Another entry for engtech’s 5 things contest.
Lately I’ve been thinking about becoming really good
at something.
Mine would include …
- to be fluent in several languages
- to be able to sing
- play a musical instrument
- writing ability to match my love of storytelling
- the ability to uni-task 😉
What 5 talents/skills do you wish you had?
Boy, your number five would be on top of my list. For the rest, I’ll have to cogitate on that.

Again, I find myself thinking that you and I should meet, drink tea (or wine) together, and just catch up. I’m sure we’ve met in a different life or some such…

Wine! – definitely. A lovely rioja with tapas. Perhaps you and M should consider a trip to Sevilla in the nearish future?

You and Lori are soulmates, it’s true. And she lives in wine country…you even speak Canuck! Come over here and relive your childhood.
I would want:
the ability to make money
the ability to be on time
the ability to shoot plasma beams out of my eyes
the ability to keep my socks from falling down
the ability to do carpentry

Hard to imagine which would be ghastlier – reliving my childhood or drinking Canadian wine. 😉
Nah, you guys come over here. Nog and I are the best tour guides ever. Just ask anyone who’s been to visit.
I’m hoping that the ability to uni-task would lead to an ability to make money, and I don’t wear socks for about eight months out of the year. But the plasma beams could come in handy (though apparently I already have something similar known as The Ray).

You’ve been gone a loooooong time. The BC stuff can be quite impressive. The Niagara, not so much.

So it’s not just Baby Duck anymore?
Well anyhow, I’m sure the wine is still much better over here. And the last time a Canuck (Vancouverite in fact) came to visit, he got taken on a magical mystery tour. Tempting, innit?

Five talents?
* to be multilingual
* to be massively tech savvy
* to be able to land a job in a single interview
* to play the mandolin
* to be physically resilient, so nothing gets me down…
As for Canadian wine, I expect the coming warmer decades should be a boon! 🙂

Being multilingual and playing a musical instrument both seem to be popular choices. I’d have to start with them too, and then throw in some mathematical ability. The ability to stay awake during the day, and asleep at night would be nice (does that count as two or just one?). And I’d like the ability to turn back the hands of time…
Basically, I just want to be smarter, stronger, sexier, richer…

I’d like to be able to draw, and to paint, and to be able to do sums without counting on my fingers. I’d also like to be able to lie convincingly, which would be handy at times. The main talent I’d like, though, is the ability not to get stressed out by idiots in supermarkets.

Wow. Your number 5 is great, the ability to uni-task. Why right at this moment, I’m in the middle of several different tasks, each of which I’m performing poorly: writing a paper, reading an article, eating breakfast, putting in a load of laundry. I just had to dig my bowl of cornflakes out of the washing machine…

Hi alejna, and welcome! 🙂
I know that the usual complaint is not being able to multi-task, but of course multi-tasking – as with most things – has a time and a place.
Meanwhile, my partner Nog can’t multi-task to save his life, but I often envy him his ability to focus on and stick to one thing and block everything else out until it’s done.
