Conservapedia… “a much-needed alternative to Wikipedia, which is increasingly anti-Christian and anti-American.” Somehow I don’t think Wikipedia is worried.
The Conservapedia Commandments for posting entries include one stating that American spelling must be used. Such as “penninsuala”? No mention of using proper grammar or having to make sense (see entry on Spain below) but apparently everything posted must be “true and verifiable”.
Yeah right. Such as “Creationists can cite material showing that there is no real fossil evidence for the macroevolutionary position and that the fossil record supports creationism” (from the entry on Evolution). 🙄
Spain
Country located on the Iberian Penninsula. Borderd by the Alantic Ocean to the west and the Mediterranean on the east. Portuagal is located on the same penninsuala. Is the same country as was in the medieval times. And known for its famous explorers.
So what do you think? Is this a joke site or what? It’s certainly quite funny in parts.

I think there is actually a real danger in laughing these extremists off. Just because they can’t spell or write coherent sentences doesn’t mean they aren’t gaining in number as a massive voting force in the US and elsewhere.
Frankly, anyone who would choose ignorance and the loss of personal freedom over being a responsible grown-up is not actually capable of voting in an informed and intelligent manner. And so, having them as a huge segment of the voting public is very scary indeed.

And the real oddity is that the universe envisaged by these guys as glorifying god is so much smaller, younger, less subtle, and less clever than the one the scientists have actually found.

I take hope in the fact that the Kansas school board that voted to teach creationism was voted out of office soon afterwards and their ill advised curriculum has been retired.

I think these guys are actually in their death screams right now. They’re not ascendant; they’re slowly sliding into irrelevance, and the more isolated they become the better. If Giuliani isn’t right-wing enough for them (and he’s not) they’ll vote for some jabbering wingnut instead and then the presidency will go to the Democrats.

Unfortunately that’s what I thought of the election Bush actually won, yet it turned out that with a friendly face in the White House they actually found new momentum. So colour me hopeful, but jaded.
The strongest evidence that we evolved from apes is the fact that some of the apes are still around, and writing Conservapedia.

I’d like to believe both of you are right, but apparently you can’t underestimate the stupidity of the masses, especially when something is allied to an emotional investment (ie. a glorious life after death, revenge on one’s enemies, etc).

The worst part of this mindset is that these sheep think *they’re* the ones being persecuted! They don’t understand that trying to make the law of the land follow their moral/intellectual vacuum is persecution of everyone else!
Just because we can’t see their Imaginary Friend, doesn’t mean we’re lacking anything. Rather the reverse.
